(an au where everyone has a tattoo with the date they'll fall in love with their soulmates and when they both fall in love, the tattoo will fade away)

i tried to make this so that it would be gender neutral, but i kinda had to go back, so if something makes the reader seem more 'female' you can comment & i'll change it as i usually write male x female :))

this is just fluff with a lil kissing (smut will be in my next chapters, don't worry!)

Narrator's POV (2nd Person):

Soulmates: a term that everyone else seemed to be infatuated with.

To you, a soulmate was just another basic, boring word. The date tattooed on your wrist was nearing, and you had no idea how to feel about it.

January 9th, 1996

It stood in big, bold letters on your wrist as you walked through the corridors, sighing.

"Merlin, this is so stupid. What if the date never comes off?" You thought to yourself. The common belief was that when you fell in love with your soulmate and they fell in love back, the dates would disappear.

It was your fifth year at Hogwarts, and as you entered the great hall to grab a plate of food, you heard a voice call your name.

"Hey, Y/N, over here!" the voice yelled. You turned your head, hair whipping your face. You giggled and saw Draco motioning towards you. With a plate of food in your hands, you walked towards him, Pansy, Blaise and the others.

You situated yourself between Blaise and Draco, both of them still eating.

"Sooo, Y/N," Blaise turned his head to look at you, "Aren't you excited?"

You looked at him in confusion, "What?"

"Your wrist, your tattoo, your soulmate!" Blaise laughed.

"Honestly, I've lost all hope. It's all bullshit," you pursed your lips at him, "Besides, who would magically appear in two days and tell me they loved me?"

"Fair point, fair point," A voice to your right rang out.

"See? Draco's got it down," you smiled at the boys.

You knew that the only reason Draco was agreeing with you was because his tattoo was dated March 17th, 1994, yet the inked skin was still there. When his date came, he was so hopeful that the ink would come off, but it didn't.

Of course, what the both of you had blatantly forgotten about was that the date tattooed on you was the date both if you would fall in love, not necessarily when you'd meet each other...

His arm found its way around your waist and you thought nothing of it as you continued eating your dinner.

• 2 day time-skip •

As soon as class was about to start, you grabbed your books and ran towards your potions class. You ran into the room just in time for Snape's lesson. His eyes followed you as you found your way towards your desk-mate and best friend, Draco.

Both of you whispered your "hello's" and sat quietly, listening to Snape.

"Good morning class. Today we'll be learning about love potio-"
