Coming For You

Chapter Four

The three days following, John, Alicia, and Mikayla go to three different states for shows. In that round of shows, they end in Louisiana. This is done on purpose, so Alicia and John can travel back with Mikayla to Tennessee for Thanksgiving. After the show in Louisiana, they go back to the studio, get some sleep, then at nine in the morning, get into the rv and head to Tennessee. Mikayla is so glad to have John and Alicia with her this year. Mikayla stayed in Louisiana last year cause of how crazy it was.

Once they get to the town of Cleveland, Mikayla tells her mom how long until they arrive at the house. Her mom has been very excited to see Alicia and John again. Neither them or Mikayla has been in Cleveland since last year. Mikayla had come during Christmas last year, but that was the last time she was there. Alicia and John hasn't been there since when they first got Mikayla to take her to Louisiana. A lot has changed since then.

As they get closer to the house, Pepper starts barking like crazy. "Yeah, are we home?" Pepper barks again when he can see the house. When they pull in, he leaps out the door and to the front door of the house. Mikayla's mom opens the door and gives Pepper a huge hug. "Hey buddy, how are you?" Pepper barks then runs into the house. Mikayla's mom laughs again then goes over to everyone else. She gives Alicia and John small hugs, Mikayla gets a huge one and a few kisses. Mikayla returns the hug and helps carry luggage inside. She brings some of Alicia and John's stuff up to the guest room while they carry the rest. Once they are all settled in, Mikayla gives them an actual tour of the house. Her favorite part is when she shows them the outside of the property. Mikayla loves it a lot, because she gets to ride Smokey on the trails they used to ride on. First, Mikayla helps John and Alicia saddle up a few horses in the barn. After, she goes to get Smokey out of the horse trailer. Mikayla and her mom then lead John and Alicia up to the big open fields. They take Mikayla and Smokey's favorite trail.

"It is so beautiful up here. I can see why you've kept the land in the family." Mrs. McDonald smiles. "I'm hoping Mikayla continues that tradition when she marries the man of her dreams." Mikayla shyly smiles. "I don't know about that, but I do plan on keeping this land for years."

Mrs. McDonald lead Alicia and John all the way up to the big open field with the tree Mikayla always leaned against. Mrs. McDonald, John, and Alicia get off their horses while Mikayla stays on Smokey. She rides Smokey over to a line on ground at the opening of some of the woods. She smiles. "It's still up?" She turn around and sees everyone behind her and Smokey. "I couldn't ever take it down. Your uncle asked if he could, I told him no. It holds too many memories."

Mikayla looks down at Smokey. "Do you want to girl?" Smokey runs over to to the line. "Ok, I guess that's a yes. Mom, stopwatch?" Mikayla tosses her mom her phone. "Ok, on your mark, get set, gooo!" Smokey zooms away from the line and toward the first obstacle. Five seconds later, they are at the next obstace. Alicia and John watch in amazement. As Smokey and Mikayla zoom around the course, it brings back so much memories. Their races, practices, the adrenaline that came with every race or practice. It also brings back what happened the last time Mikayla had seem Bob, like Bob. As Mikayla tries to focus back on the course, she turns and notices something in the distance. Mikayla is so focused on it, she forgets to command Smokey to jump over the next obstacle. Luckily, Smokey still jumps. However, neither of them notice a huge snake laying on the other side of it. Smokey steps on it angering it. Mikayla doesn't notice it until it's too late. The snake strikes up and slices into Mikayla's leg.

Smokey neighs and steps on the snake's head as Mikayla screams in pain. She stops when she feels Mikayla about to fall. John noticed the snake, knew what probably gonna happen, and was there to catch her. Mrs. McDonald and Alicia come running too.

He puts Mikayla down gently while Alicia looks at the bite. John picks up the snake that is now dead. "It's just a kingsnake. It's not venomous." John throws it in the weeds then looks over Smokey to make sure she didn't get bit. He is relived to see no bite mark. By then, Alicia and Mrs. McDonald are already helping Mikayla back on Smokey. Alicia leads Smokey over to the other horses by the tree. John holds Smokey as the girls mount their horses. Alicia holds Smokey's reins as John mounts up. He takes the reins again after. At the house, Alicia and Mrs. McDonald help Mikayla into the house. John takes care of the horses and heads inside after he's done. Mikayla is already taken care of at that point. Her and everyone else is in the living room. Pepper is in his what was his normal spot on the couch beside Mikayla.
