A/N: this first chapter is kind of rough, sorry about that. But after this it flows much more smooth.
I hope you enjoy!!Blue, dead eyes. They stared at her. Sweat beaded eyelashes and slick forehead.
Kace bit her lip, and pressed her hand over her reflection. Another night, another nightmare. She let out a ragged breath, and flicked the bathroom light off. Walking into the main room, Kace sat tenderly on the side of the bed that smelled vaguely of smogs* and lots of booze; she had given up on trying to sleep. She rolled to her side, and picked up the tablet from the nightstand.
She clicked on a buzzing lamp, and proceeded to swipe through the files on the tablet. The first document was a picture. This picture was of a particular auburn haired woman, one she knew many years ago when she still worked for the Syndicate. The page that followed contained the woman's classified file. After that, random pictures from security cameras and droids. Kace sighed deeply, her search for her long lost friend had reached a sudden halt. Ever since the Tilo Outpost debacle, the woman went into hiding. She knew how to do it well, how to hide in plain sight. She had the ability to sneak around without camera footage of her; something difficult to do in this society. She continued to skim through more pages of cold leads, files, everything. As she went to close the tablet, a harsh knock on her door erupted and ripped through the air. The moments following the knock were thick with silence. Kace slowly stood up, and grabbed the pistol warplauncher attached to the under part of her nightstand.
Suddenly, the door deactivated and fell to the ground, and a bright light filled the room and a deafening bang followed. The girl dropped her launcher and clenched her head between her hands. She forced her eyes to stay open, even with the bright light. Dizzy, she stood up and turned in frantic circles, eyeing the premise for her attacker. The room again went silent, and back to being dimly lit by the lamp. She shook her head, did she just imagine that?
A sudden force from behind her told her she had indeed not imagined it. She whipped around, and was met by a tall woman in a mask. It covered her mouth and nose, but let the other half of her face be seen. There was no mistaking the long scar that extended from the top of the woman's eyebrow down behind the mask. She had short, gold hair. It wasn't until the woman charged that the blue eyed girl recognized her. Even then, she had a hard time actually believing what she was seeing.
"Kace Amara." the blonde said, muffled through her mask.
Kace hadn't heard her name out loud for so long. However, from this particular mouth, she wasn't pleased in the slightest.
"Or should I just call you Archangel? Since that's what you go by these days." the woman said, kicking a long leg up at Kace's face. Kace held the woman's ankle, and managed to throw it to the floor.
"What are you doing here?" Kace replied instead, dodging the blondes assaults.
"You are my mission, experiment. Your duty is with the Syndicate... even if you've fallen below our radar." Delta grunted out, as Kace got a solid punch to her jaw. Her mission?
They fight for what seemed like hours... the hotel room was an absolute mess, lamps knocked over, blood stained concrete. Delta had tried multiple tactics to finish Kace, but Kace was too powerful.
"I'm not a pawn of the syndicate anymore." She said finally, extending her arm forcefully in front of her, sending the blonde flying into the cinderblock wall behind her. Kace sucked in a sharp breath, and looked around the room. Then at the woman.
"You will tell Oberon that my allegiances lie with the people of this city and the people of this galaxy."
Kace moved aside and grabbed only her necessities, all fitting inside a satchel, and picked up her tablet filled with the information on the raven headed woman.
"Never forget... Oberon made you Archangel... And Apollo will always find you."
Apollo... Kace hadn't organically thought of that man in what felt like ages. She felt her stomach contract and chills shot down her spine. She tilted her head, feeling her power surge forward and attack Deltas mind. She fell limp and Kace released her from her grasp.
Kace left the building, and walked out to the busy Nuniq streets. She was compromised, that's all she knew. It was time to find Nia, finally, after 2 years.
*Smogs- think cigarettes but instead of smelling like tobacco ammonia is left behind.
