"Meeting you was like listening to a song for the first time and knowing it would be my favourite."

I suppose that every story needs to be told so you might as well hear my story. It's nothing special, nothing above average, it's just a little story of how I married a rockstar. It was 1970 and I was celebrating my 21st birthday in a small pub in London. Some band was playing on the stage but I was too busy giggling at my friend that was pulling me by the arm towards the bar.

"Sarah, if you keeping pulling my arm, it's going to pop out of it's socket." I laughed but she paid no attention to me and we arrived at the bar.

"What can I get you, ladies?" The barman asked, looking Sarah up and down as if she was a piece of meat. Those were the types of men that sickened me.

"Two double vodkas and coke." Sarah replied, almost as if she had been rehearsing it since we left the taxi. Sarah went to hand the barman a twenty pound note but he shook his head.

"On the house." He winked at her and Sarah merely smiled, twirling a strand of hair between her fingers. Sarah was the one to always get the guys with her long blonde curls and bright blue eyes, she was the definition of gorgeous. What also didn't help were our outfits. Sarah was wearing a tight crop top and a short corduroy skirt with a pair of kitten heels whereas I was wearing an old Led Zeppelin vest top, high waisted jeans and a pair of black platform shoes. We were total opposites but we were best friends.

The band finished their song just as I had finished my drink and they were taking a break. "I'm going out for a smoke." I told Sarah before standing up and walking out to the back of the pub. The night air felt chilly on my arms but I brushed this aside as I placed the cigarette between my teeth and pulled out my lighter. I lit it and shoved the lighter into my back pocket. I heard footsteps coming outside and man's voice groan.

"Any chance you've got a lighter?" He asked me and I turned to look at him. He was one of the guys from the band. He had a big head of curls and towered over me. I reached into my back pocket and handed him the lighter. He quickly lit his cigarette and handed the lighter back to me which shocked me as it doesn't usually happen on nights out. "I'm Brian." He introduced, holding out his hand. I reached over, shaking his hand.

"Melody. Your band is pretty good." I complimented, taking another drag and slowly exhaling the smoke.

"Thanks. It's just a little sideline thing."

"You in University?" I questioned, really just making small talk.

"Yeah, I'm studying astrophysics." I raised my eyebrows at him, causing him to let out a little laugh. "I know, I know, shocking. Are you in Uni?"

I nodded, taking a drag. "Studying nursing." I replied, a look of disdain on my face. Brian noticed this but as he opened his mouth another person came outside.

"Sorry, mate, forgot to give you your lighter back." The stranger said to Brian, handing him a lighter after using it to light his own. He turned to see me and his eyebrows rose. "Hello." He smirked at me, causing me to roll my eyes. "I'm Roger, and you are?"

"Leaving." I threw hi a dirty look. "See you around, Brian." I gave Brian a genuine smile and threw the butt of my cigarette to the ground.

"Bye Mel, hope you enjoy the rest of the show." He waved goodbye as I stepped back into the pub. As I arrived back to the table I saw Sarah with her tongue down the throat of the barman. I rolled my eyes and tapped her on the shoulder. The two pulled away, the barman glaring at me and Sarah's cheeks turned slightly red.

"I don't mind if you go home with him." I spoke in a monotone voice. Sarah would never go home with someone unless she knew that I was okay with it, it was one of the thing I loved about her.

"Thank you." Sarah said in excitement, standing up from the seat and pulling the barman with her. "I'll pop by yours tomorrow." She called as she ran out the door. I rolled my eyes with a slight smile on my face. I went up to the bar, grabbing myself another drink and watching the rest of the show. I couldn't help but look at Roger while he was playing the drums, the way he focused on them made him seem like not as much of a douchebag but then he looked up and caught my gaze, winking at me. I rolled my eyes, making sure he saw and took a drink with a cheeky smile on my face.

When the show was over I decided to go out and find the boys. I walked out the door, lighting up a cigarette and walking around. I noticed the two of them istting in a van as another man walked away from them with his hands on his hips.

"Eh, do you play bass?" Brian called to the man, who didn't even turn around.

"Nope." The man replied with a slight turn of his head and walked off.

I continued my walk over to the van. "Good show boys." I said, getting their attention quite easily.

"Thanks." Brian said, taking a drink from his bottle.

"Yes, thank you Melody." Roger put emphasis on my name with a smirk on his face. My eyes shifted from him to Brian, who wouldn't even look at me.

"He wouldn't leave me alone until I told him." Brian said quickly and looked at his friend. "He can be quite annoying sometimes."

"Sometimes?" I questioned with a slight laugh.

"Do you need a lift home?" Roger questioned, looking up at me. I shook my head.

"I'll get a taxi." I told him but he instantly stood and motioned for Brian to do the same so he could close the doors.

"Not a chance, get in the van." I decided it was best to not argue and I pulled myself into the van, sitting awkwardly between Roger and Brian. "Where do you live?"

"34 Victoria Street." He nodded and started the van.

After a very silent drive, we had dropped Brian off and he continued towards mine. "You didn't have to drop me home." I broke the silence.

"I know, but I couldn't let a gorgeous girl make her own way home." He winked at me. He pulled up outside the house and, as usual, my mouth decided to speak before my brain could intervene.

"You wanna come in for a coffee?"

"Wow and I thought you were a good girl." He winked and I opened the door.

"It's just coffee, you don't have to if you don't want to." I started to walk towards my house, making sure to wiggle my hips a little and I could hear the van door closing causing me to smirk to myself. "Change your mind?" I asked him as I unlocked the door.

"No, I was always gonna say yes." I stood with my back to the front door and he stood very close to me, his body pressed against mine. He began kissing my neck and I struggled to find the doorknob. I opened the door and turned to walking into house, he wrapped his arms around my waist and forced me to turn around.

"We're gonna have to be quiet." I whispered to him as he continued to kiss my neck.

"I can do that." He smirked at me and lifted me up. I wrapped my legs around his waist and started kissing him, running my hands through his hair.
