Jerome's POV

Once everyone but me, received their award, small or big, the ceremony was finally over. Thank the heavens. Lexi and I follow the students as they file out of the large auditorium, with Jon following behind. The crowd splits off into smaller sections when the majority of the group is out the door and into the hallway. Us three, excluding Jon, head off to our lockers to prepare for our half-way finished Latin-Excel. Jon parts off after he collects his books to his third period class, Biology. Lexi and I walk together to Latin, even though once we were there, there was only about twenty or so minutes left. We take our seats, which happen to be only one desk apart, and wait for Mr. Hendricks to start the class.

"Okay everyone, I know we got a little caught of guard this morning with the ceremony and all, so, since there is only twenty minutes left of class, and I simply cannot introduce a new lesson to you in that short amount of time, you may chat amongst yourselves quietly." Mr. Hendricks announces then seats himself back at his cluttered desk.

Derik Cooper, who is between Lexi and I, off my to my left and Lexi's right, stands and walks over to his friends, grabbing his backpack before leaving. I swing myself over to that seat and take my things along with me. Lexi turns to face me, with a frown.

"So not happy our next period is gym, no idea why but I am freakin tired." she grumbles, making me smile.

"Actually me too, I could use a couple more hours myself." I yawn, covering my mouth.

Lexi smiles, then her expression changes into a confused one.

"What, haven't you seen someone yawn before." I joke, as she cranes her neck to the left of me, I assume she is looking out the door window.

I also turn to look outside the door, and who do I see, none other than my own mother, reading the class scores and school classroom map. She puts her hand on her forehead and shakes it in a disapproving manner. After that, she purposefully marches off to the right.

"Was that?"

"My mother.." I groan.

**

As soon as class was finished I race out of the classroom and into the hallway, Lexi following behind. I head to my next class, gym, which conveniently was down the right hallway. I just really want to find out what my mother is up to...

When the blue double doors come into view my mother does as well. I catch a glimpse of her back as she is obviously talking with someone, but who? Nonchalantly, I walk over to get a better view.

Oh great.... She was chatting with Mrs. Carlton, my chemistry teacher.

They smile and wave to what I assume is goodbye then part ways. As my mom turns she recognizes me straight away, she walks up to me as I do to meet her.

"Mom? Why were you talking with Mrs. Carlton?" I ask deathly afraid of some of the answers that could come from her mouth.

"Well, Jerome, since you weren't taking action to boost up your own grades, I did. I, got you a tutor." she tells me purposefully.

"Oh my god..." I shake my head as I rest my palm on my forehead.

"Who'd you even get!?" I throw my arms up to the sides frustratedly.

"Let me think, it was something like Michael, or well, I do know that he has the highest grades in the class.."

"MITCHELL?!"

"That's it!"

"Do you have any idea what you've done!? Does he even know?!" I bite my lip, mad and annoyed.

"Calm down. You should be happy I did this for you." she insists and checks her watch. "Oh dear, I have to run. See you at home." she turns and quickly walks away.

Yep, my life is over.
