Your POV

Editing has always been a passion of mine so when the opportunity arose to do it as a job, I quickly accepted.  YouTubers are definitely the group of people that hire editors the most. Of course I knew who Markiplier was, but at the same time I wasn't a fan. I wouldn't want to work for someone I was a fan of anyways, creates an odd power dynamic.

After showing him multiple examples of previous works, I had been hired. I was absolutely thrilled. The pay was more than I originally asked, but I had no complaints. Living in LA could get quite expensive after all.

My first day was to be mostly uneventful, as stated by Mark. He said he didn't want to overload me my first day and make me freaked out and overwhelmed. I appreciated that, I can handle a workload but I'd be lying if I said I could get overwhelmed quite easily. He said it'd be mostly introductions with his team and such so I could get a sense of who I'd be hanging around and working with.

Editing wasn't a job that demanded formal attire, so I just wore everyday clothes that looked slightly nicer than casual. I wanted to make a good impression without being too over the top. I would love to say I wasn't nervous, but I most definitely was.  Who in their right might isn't nervous on their first day of a new job?

I twist my keys around in my fingers as I make the small journey from my front door to my car. It's a fairly nice day, the sun is out but it isn't too hot.  The air smelled as it always did in LA, some thins never change. I take a swig from the reusable coffee cup filled with (favorite drink) and slide into the driver's seat of my vehicle. After pushing the key into the ignition I tap my fingers on the steering wheel and take a deep breath. There's no time like the present I suppose.

I clench and unclench my fists ad I walk up to the front door of the house. It was very nice, don't get me wrong, but I was definitely expecting something much more extravagant. Who knows, maybe I'm just brainwashed by the big YouTubers that go all out.

I shift uncomfortably on my feet as I try to get the courage up to knock on the door. I already have the job, the most stressful part is over. Before I can convince myself to do other wise, I knock on the door. I only wait for about ten second before the door is opened by Mark. He smiles at me and sidesteps a bit so I an get in. "Hey, come in. Thank you so much for coming," he speaks in a calm, welcoming tone.

I feel a bit more at ease as I walk in. The decor is absolutely lovely. I gaze around at my surroundings. It's a beautiful home. "Thank you so much for this opportunity," I finally speak after a small period of silence. I don't want to come off as too shy, then employers feel like they can't trust you with social aspects of a job.

"Don't thank me, your resumé was amazing. I really like your style. It's very clean." He continues walking so I continue to follow him. "So as I said in my email earlier, I want your first day to be laid back. I'll send you some files later but I figured you could meet the crew and get to know us a bit."

The kitchen is nice and open and contains a couple of other people.  There's two guys and two other girls in the room. "So that's Amy, my girlfriend slash camera woman slash creative extraordinaire, Ethan he's a good friend and my partner in our second channel, Tyler just hangs around, and finally there's Katherine she's another editor," Mark explains.

It's a bit overwhelming to meet all of these people at once.y eyes dart about the room and I nod slightly taking in all the names and faces.  "Um, my name is (Y/N), but I assume you already knew that," I introduce and figet with my hands in front of me.

Everyone greets me and they all seem nice enough.  There's bits and pieces of equipment all set up.  I gaze around the room, I'm not really sure what to say. I don't want them to dislike me. "Welcome to the team," Amy chirps with a smile on her face and I smile back. Her smile is contagious and I can tell I'm going to like her.

"Thank you."

"So currently, we're filming a video for Unus Annus. That's the second channel. Feel free to hang around and watch. If you don't want to you can chill I'm He office to edit or edit from home. Whatever makes you more comfortable," Mark speaks as he moves. I can tell that he's not the type of person to sit still without something to do when his mind was in work mode.

"If it's okay I'll stick around to watch."

"Oh, side note, you won't be editing these videos just personal ones."

I nod a bit and sit down in a kitchen chair to observe. The camera rolls and the video begins. Mark and Ethan bounce off each other very well and I even catch myself on the verge of laughing sometimes. I don't laugh out kid because I'm too nervous about ruining or interrupting the video. That would be rude of me to do on my first day.

About forty five minutes later they wrap everything up and Amy kills the camera. I'm still smiling. It was quite entertaining to be honest.  Everyone is talking and Amy is showing Mark some of the shots we got of them. Ethan walks over to me and hold his hand out.  I smile a bit and shake it.

Ethan is about average height and (taller/shorter) than me with brown hair and hazel eyes. He's also very fidgety, moving about constantly, bouncing on his feet and always messing with his hair and moving his hands. "Hey, welcome to the team," he smiles at me.

"Thank you, Ethan right?" I ask, I know his name is Ethan but I'm not entirely sure what else to say.  I need to loosen up.

"Yeah. So are you going to be around a lot or working from home?"

"I'm not sure yet. Still thinking about it."

"I recommend hanging around. Trust me, you'll meet some of the best friends you'll ever have."

And he was right.

Thank you for reading, I'm new to writing on Wattpad, I've written on Quotev if you recognize the name haha. I'm not entirely sure how the system works here. I believe votes boost the story? If someone could explain this all to me it'd be greatly appreciated. Thank you again,
