Shayla: *is teaching Max how to swear in Norwegian in the lounge room while David and Gwen are in the kitchen*
*a knock at the door makes all four of them stop what they were doing*
Shayla & Max: Dad! Are we expecting anyone?!
David: *enters from the kitchen* no, we shouldn't *walks to the door and opens it* *sees that there is no one there* huh?... *looks left to right*....... *starts to close the door but stops when he hears a 'bark' and a 'meow'* *looks down and gasps at the sight of a puppy and a kitten poking their tiny heads from in a box* *leans down and picks up the box* *walks back into the house, shutting the door with his foot*
Shayla & Max: *notice the box* what the hell is with the box?
David: *doesn't answer and just places the box in front of the two* *opens the box flaps and jumps slightly when the kitten jumps from the box and into Shayla's lap and the puppy jumps from the box and into Max's lap*
Shayla & Max: *eyes sparkle in childish awe* *start petting the shit out of the kitten and puppy, baby-talking the animals*
David:... *smiles softly* *stands up and enters the kitchen* Gwen! We're adopting a puppy and a kitten!
