Kytyn.
"Lets go get Alex, alright?" Will offers as he leads me to his car(Frank's old one/second one) I nod softly and we drive home. Mrs. Munion offers to make us lunch, but we tell her that we would be going and eating, with Alex, with my biological dad, the officer from last night.
"Alright. You three be safe, and I hope you'll bring your father around for everyone to meet him officially." Mrs. Munion smiles brightly.
"Will do." I say, buckling up my daughter into the car as Will heads inside to grab her diaper bag real quick from the living room.
Once thats done, we say goodbye to everyone at the house, as they work on fixing Helen's room, and Cristina and some of the other kids sail on their dad's boat to stop him from leaving. Cristina and Will are the only ones who know, and are trusted, to be in charge of steering/sailing the boat, but since Will is with me, Cristina is in charge for their plan. Me and Will head back to the station, this time with me sitting in the back beside Alex's carseat, and standing outside the building is Charlie. He waves at us, and gets in the passenger seat after Will convinces him to let him drive us all down, and then drop him back off at work after lunch.
"So, this is Alex?" Charlie asks, turning in the passenger seat after Will parked at a nearby Denny's. I start to unbuckle her.
"Yes, would you like to hold her, dad?" I ask with a small smile. I wasn't used to calling him dad, but it felt right, and it made him smile.
"Uh, sure." He held her a bit awkwardly as we walked into the diner, and he glared at a few of the other customers as they nearly bumped into him. They said nothing about it when they saw the badge on his belt. "Sorry about my clothes, didn't really have time to change."
"Thats alright." I say as we're led to a booth. Charlie sits across from me and Will, still holding Alex. "Do you want to feed her while we wait?"
"I... I would love to." He smiles weakly, and I can tell he isn't used to holding or feeding babies. I guide him through the steps, and he quickly gets the hang of it.
When she's fed, I take her in my arms and burp her, lying a towel on my shoulder just in case. Will, who carried her carseat in, and I carried her Diaper bag, puts her empty bottle into the bag and then places the carseat on the table. I show Charlie how to buckle her in, and then Will placed her seat in the booth beside my dad, who gently rocked it as the waiter brought our drinks, and later our food. We ate as Alex slept with a pacifier in her mouth. She didn't fuss much, and some other patrons came up to fawn over her cuteness, and compliment how behaved she was. They luckily didn't stay long at our table, letting us eat in peace, and Alex to nap. When it was time to head back, we dropped my dad off at the station and we exchanged phone numbers. As he hugged me, and Will and Alex were still in the car, he whispered something to me that made me cry slightly.
"I don't care if you're my biological daughter or not, you are still my daughter... We don't need to take a DNA test to confirm we're family, I can just tell..." he kissed my head and wiped a few tears before waving goodbye at us as we drove home. I waved back, until we were out of sight. Even though Will didn't hear it, he knew what Charlie had said.
"How was lunch?" Helen asked us as we were walking inside the house, Alex in my arms as Will carried the diaper bag and carseat.
"It was great." I tell her with a bright smile as Will set the stuff down in their designated spots in the living room. "How're you and Frank?"
"Good news, you guys aren't moving again." Helen said with a smile, making Will release a relieved sigh. "How's your dad?"
"He's nice. Said that We don't have to take a test to know we're family." Helen nods happy at that statement. "I think Alex likes him."
"Oh, she likes everyone." Helen coos, taking Alex in her arms and cooing at the happy baby. I look outside to see all the other kids setting something up with Frank. "Oh, since none of you kids were there, we decided to have another wedding ceremony. They're out setting it all up now."
"I'll go out and help then." Will walks out and me and Helen stay in the livingroom with Mrs. Munion, talking and playing with Alex.
"Do you think your father is going to ask you to come live with him, Kytyn? Since you're technically still underage and not living with a parent or legal guardian?" Helen asks as she sits on the floor, playing with the baby.
"I don't think so. He likes Will, and I'm sure he likes the family too, so I think maybe he'll be fine with me staying with you guys." I shrug.
"Yeah, but you should be with your family. He hasn't seen you in 15 years, right? I'm sure he wants to get to know you and make up for lost time."
"Well, actually, Hele– mom." I correct myself. "My mother lied, to both him and myself, and she told him I had been a stillborn, and kicked him out of our lives. He had no idea that I was alive and with an abusive mother. And I don't blame him. I only have her to blame for the lost time."
After that, I attended Helen and Frank's second wedding, and we all had fun. I bonded with more of the kids, and Phoebe was much nicer after that horrible night. Will and I had lots of fun, playing with Alex and the kids. I called my dad and we set up a day for him to come down again, and officially meet the North-Beardsley family. I was looking forward to it, especially since I would get to meet and bond with my biological dad some more.
