"Hey, idiot! Wait up!"

Minyoung turned around to see her best friend, Na Jaemin, running up to her, hair messy after coming to school in a rush after sleeping past his alarm twice.

Reacting to the sudden call, Minyoung stopped, looking concerned for her friend.

She scoffed, looking at Jaemin who was panting, hands on his knees after using all his energy on catching up to her.

"What time did you even wake up today?"
"7:30," he answered. "I was almost late for the bus."
"Next time actually take the effort to wake up early," Minyoung answered, elbowing Jaemin who responded with a groan.

The two continued walking down the sidewalk, that was sufficiently filled with students walking to the school just a few meters ahead. A slight breeze blew gently in their faces, the perfect weather for the first month of school.

"You ready for university yet?" Jaemin asked, turning his head to face Minyoung as they walked.
"Nope," she said with an obvious tone. "You must be ready though, with your studious ass with your books on the desk already. Still don't understand how you get such good marks that easily when you sleep so late."

Indeed, Na Jaemin, a man of people's dreams, always seemed to have girls fawning over him and the guys jealous of him, because he had the brains and the looks. Minyoung being best friends with Jaemin suprised most, despite them knowing each other since the sixth grade.

The two grew up together, and were inseparable. They were not seen without the other, they were like platonic soulmates.

Well, except one had an undeniably unexplainable crush on the other.

"Minyoung, you have to pick up the pace, this semester's exams are what counts for your university applications," said Jaemin with a worried tone. "I'm going to disown you if you don't pass."
"As if," she replied, rolling her eyes.
"But in all seriousness, Minyoung-"

Minyoung placed her hand on Jaemin's shoulder.
"I know, I need to get good marks so that I can get a job and get paid and raise myself, whatever and shit," she replied with a wink.

Jaemin internally gagged at her sudden flirting. "Exactly. I'm not helping you in the future— what the fuck Minyoung!"
Minyoung ended up elbowing Jaemin in the ribs in response to his remark, causing the boy to flinch dramatically.

They arrived at the door of the high school, which opened the door to the front foyer. It was already crowded with students as school started in ten minutes.

"What's your major again?", Minyoung asked, cocking her head up to look at Jaemin.

The boy laughed, with a hint of disbelief in his voice. "Psychology, Minyoung, don't you know that i'm the same major as you? We're going to stick together forever, you know."

Minyoung blushed, shocked at the sudden corny statement. However, she ensured to bring back her composure to keep her cool.
"I know, I was just testing you."

Jaemin put his hand to his chest, acting surprised.
"Can't believe my best friend of 6 years is trying to deceive me. I call this psychological abuse."
"Can you please stop it with the psychological jargon."
"How do you know that, you have no braincells left to know this stuff—ow, okay, I get it, I'm sorry!"

The pair went to the middle of the school hallway, walking to Jaemin's social science classroom that was across the hall. Preoccupied with each other's daring remarks, both were oblivious to the hushed voices of other students filling the hallway as they walked past, most of them occuring due to Jaemin's popularity.
