The Wedding Day

Here i am standing in front of the mirror staring right into my eyes. I am all dressed up in this beautiful bride's attire. I have never thought my life would take such a turn, i don't even know if it is wrong one or right. I am sure my fate must be laughing on me. Is really a destiny out there? I mean i am just 19 and going to get married to a man i hardly know. He was expected to marry Tia di not me but she ran away. She could have told us if she don't want to marry him. But no she chooses an easy way out.
Since she left, there i am the only option of Malik' s "Annika Malik".

Nobody knows me because i am a simple girl who never ever in her whole life Interacted with the media. So body knows. Tia's Father is my bade papa ( uncle ) , Mr. Rajat Malik. I am his little brother's daughter. My parents left me when i was 12 , they died in a plane crash. Since than i was grown up under Mr. Rajat Malik' s Guidance. He is a great Businessman and taught me a lot about business. He wanted me to do work in the company because according to him i was a quick learner. He never asked me for anything untill now. And now when he asked, he just asked for my whole life. Actually he didn't asked, he wanted my whole life.
I still remember the conversation we had....

I was in tia's room waiting for him. He said he wanted to talk . I was thinking what he wanted to talk right now in the midst of this chaos. My thoughts broke away as soon as he enters in the room with his face hung down. I knew that he was embarrassed because of tia's big stunt.

"Bade papa" I said

" Look Annika, i know it will be hard for you but i have no other option " He said tiredly

What does he mean? Oh god i am scared like hell.

"I don't get it. " I replied timidly

" You have to get ready in bride's attire " He took a pause.

My heart is beating so fast right now..i hope it's not what i am thinking.. Please it is not a hindi serial , it's my life.

"Because you are getting married to Mr. Oberoi now " He completed

Saying i was shocked would be an under statement i was beyond shock. My mind was not processing anything he was saying. But soon i came out from the shock and asked him

" But bade papa i am too young for this marriage " I said softly

" Annika you are turning 20 after 2 months, i know you are young and must have your own dreams about marriage but at times you don't get what you really desires. We can't change the destiny and i am asking you to do this for the sake of us, your only family and the business me and your dad started. He is a powerful man Annika, he will destroy us " He said trying to make me understand

Okay. So i am marrying a powerful man. I wanted to marry a simple man but let it go. He will destroy us, well that is what clearly registered in my mind. He will destroy the business my dad created with bade papa . I can't let this happen but i can't also destroy my own life. I will help him in business. We can do it together can't we?

" We are together in this . We will fight him, i will be here right beside you and Raj bhaiya (brother) is also there. " I said hopefully

He shakes his head and sighs

I was disappointed. Raj bhai has recently came from New york Completing his masters. He younger than tia di but he is my big bro. My saviour, i have really missed him past 2 years but now i really think i should talk to him , he will understand me for sure.

" Did you talked to Raj bhai " I asked

" Yes " I replied simply

" What he said? He agreed? " I asked feeling terrified

" No. He didn't. " He said

I took a breath of relief .

"He said it should be completely your choice. We are no one to take this important decision of your life. That is why i am here, to make you understand that we really don't have choice here Annika "he said sharply.

I was stunned.

" Hear me very carefully Annika. I had signed a deal with Mr. Oberoi which states he will do the investment in our company only when i get any girl from the malik's to get married to him. And if i failed to do so or backed out from the contract, my whole company will go under him ,  he will take over and we will be left with nothing " He stated

"Why did you sign such a deal " I asked harshly

" Watch your tone, Annika" He said straight looking into my eyes.

I looked down. I have never talked to him like this before. Actually i have never talked to anyone like this. And now i am embraced because i am a good girl.

" I didn't signed the deal right there, Annika " He said

I looked towards him curiously

" I really needed that investment, our company is running in loss. But i am not a heartless person, he asked Tia first. I showed her the picture and she really liked him. She searched about him on the google and she was happy . She told me she is ready for the marriage and she was quite excited to get herself married to most wanted bachelor of India. I signed the deal Annika, i was happy. But now this happened, is it my fault? " He said and he really sounded upset.

He is right. It's not his fault. But it is not mine too. Oh god! What should i do?

" Annika he must be arriving here anytime soon. I have never asked you for anything before but now i am asking you to do this. You have to do this for us. I want you to get married to him. He is a .....(pause) good person. " He said Authoritatively

He is a good person. Why he took a pause? Is he doubtful. What if he is not a good person?  What if he will not like me? What if he hates me?  Oh god!

" If i was your real father , i guess you would have not take this much time to decide " He said sadly

Oh no! Is he emotionally blackmailing me now. Well i love him for everything if did for me. He is the only elder person in the family. He took care of his children alone since Raj bhai born because badi mom passed away giving birth to bhai. I remembered those days when we all were happy and together , he loved me since i was i child. He is not expressive but i know he loves me. He was there for me when my parents left me and he never ever make me feel unwanted. He took care of me as much as he took care of tia di and  raj bhai. Now it's the time to do something for him. He is getting old and i can't give him this business stress. With the heavy heart i said

" I am ready "

His face lighted up with hope and relief . He placed his hand on my head and softly said thank you...

My thoughts broke away as soon as they heard the sound of drums beating. The groom has arrived.
I took deep sigh.

My new life is waiting for me.
