My bike bounced on the uneven road that leads to nowhere. I was just pedaling and wherever the roads take me I go. I do this a lot when I am thinking. Today I didn't have much to think about. Only how Tiffany didn't like my angel. It seemed like not many people did. Is that why she always sits alone? How could anyone not like her?
A bird singing a beautiful melody broke my stream of thoughts. I looked around paying more attention to my surroundings then before. A field with knee high grass swaying in a breeze. It looked over the ocean. I've come here a lot lately. I feel like it is beautiful enough to share with someone. Almost like it's a crime to keep it just for myself, but it felt so good to have something just for me.
I could hear the waves crashing a hundred yards or so below, as I got off my bike. I laid in the grass. Staring up at the clouds. The birds singing, the waves crashing, and the sound of the grass swaying was enough to put me to sleep. Just as my eyes began to close a buzzing from my pocket caused my eyes to fly open.
'Hey want to come over? I need my cuddle buddy.-Calum'
One of my best friends Calum lived on the other side of town from where I am now.
'Sure, see you in an hour. -Luke' I quickly typed back.
I stood up and stretched before hopping on my bike. I pedaled at a slow pace not wanting to rush over to Calum's house. I still wanted time alone, to think. However the gravel road soon turned into a busy city street. I had to focus on the road, otherwise I would probably get run over.
Soon I was pedaling on Calum's street. My snap back almost got blown off by a sudden big gust of wind. As I arrived at Calum's house, I placed my bike on the front lawn. I didn't bother knocking, me and Calum don't really bother to knock when we go to each other's houses. Calum's mom was sitting on the couch watching some reality show.
"He's downstairs." She told me.
"Thanks" I walked towards the basement door. As I made my way down the flight I could hear the distinct sound of Calum swearing at Fifa. I began chuckling trust Calum to lose to a computer.
"Hey Calum." I shouted over the sound of the T.V. and Calum swearing. He paused the game.
"Oh hey Luke, thanks for coming, my mom was going to try to make me help her with this tea party thing. Basically a whole bunch of middle age woman are going to sit in the living room, drink expensive tea, play crib, and gossip like teenage girls."
"Sound fun." I sarcastically remark.
"Hey I didn't invite you over to sass me."
"Well then maybe I should go." I said heading towards the stairs. I was trying my hardest to hold back the laugh that was threating to escape my mouth.
"No don't leave me. I need to be cuddled. You can't leave me." Calum wailed.
We both burst in hysterics, clutching our stomachs. I didn't even know what was so funny anymore but we still laughed. After a few minutes we finally composed ourselves.
I plopped my butt down on the couch and picked up a PS3 controller. Calum smirked at me
"Ready to get your butt kicked at Fifa?"
"The real question is are you ready to get your butt kicked at Fifa?" I replied.
Half an hour, two games, in we were tied 1-1 for number of games we won. There was five minutes left of the round and Calum was currently beating 5-4. As the seconds ticked by I stole the ball from Calum's player and began to dribble towards his net, I beat his last defender and was now on a breakaway down the field. As I approached the goal I shot and it went in.
"Oh take that. In your face, Loser." I screamed, jumping up and down.
"Idiot, we tied."
"Oh." Calum laughed at me.
"Shut up." I whined.
"Never." He shouted back.
"Dude seriously don't laugh at me when I am having girl issues." This got his attention immediately.
"You, are having girl problem?" He asked almost seeming shocked. "Awe my little hemmo is growing up." He got up and pinched my cheeks.
"Stop it." I slapped his hand away from my face.
He quickly grabbed two beanbags and placed them across from each other. He plopped down on one.
"Come young penguin sit and tell me your female whoas."
"Oh gosh Calum." I mumbled as I settled into the plush beanbag.
"Well Calum there are two girls-"
"Two girls really, awe Lukey you like two girls and can't decide which one to be with-"
"No I only like one girl-" I tried to continue
"But both like you and she is going all psycho trying to get the other girl out of the picture?"
"No Calum let me tell my problems, there is one girl who is perfect-"
"No girls can be perfect, I can assure you. They may seem perfect but those are the ones that will go and stab you right in the back, the definitely cause the most pain. Trust me dude I have been there way to many times. All these girls that would look perfect standing there in the sun, and just when I think we might actually be getting somewhere, she leaves me. It sucks man." His voice almost cracking.
"Cal who's hurt you recently?" I patted his back.
"Just a girl." I barely caught the words as they fell from his lips.
"Man she was hot. She had this strawberry blonde hair that fell in waves. Her eyes where sky blue and every time I saw them, god, they took my breath away. She had a face that was pale. She said she was from the united states." He takes a shaky breath.
"What was her name?" I asked, trying not to pry too much on the sore topic we were currently on.
"Her name?" He said more as a question. "Her name is Chloe." He gave a wobbly smile before it turned into a frown.
"Oh, what happened." I don't really know what else to say. Normally he's never this affected by relationships.
"I don't know, she said she wasn't ready to love, or something like that."
"Do you still have her number?" I questioned.
"Yeah." He replied in a monotone voice.
"You should try and call her sometime. She sounds scared if you ask me." I attempt to give him girl advice even though I have like zero girl experience.
"Look at you." Cal smiled "You don't girl advice from me you have yourself."
"I guess." I replied, unsure.
"Now," said Calum. "Lets talk about this girl that my best friend seems to love."
****************
So this is chapter two. I introduced Calum and I am planning that in the next Luke will actually talk to his angel. The girl that hurt Calum may or may not be important to the story, not quite sure yet. If she doesn't make it into this book she will probably be in the book I am writing for Calum.
I'm pretty sure no one reads the author notes at the bottom of the chapter but anyway, thanks for the reads and votes.
