Essence

I'm awake every day
I can see my surroundings

I float away
And need something to ground me

I know many people
And hear their words

I see them laugh, cry
And curse this world

I see the blue sky
And the deep sea

The bright sunshine
Even as it blinds me

I hear the thunder and the rain
And find it beautiful

But the world is full of people
So everything is sinful

I see the birds
And the blossom on trees

Creeping crawling spiders
Stinging wasps and bees

I see the blood on the floor
And bleach in the sink

I smell the chemicals in the air
And I stop to think

I see the homeless people
And putrid death

Decaying love
And the hate that's left

I can feel the hatred
And I can sense the love

I can hear the monster
As it plays in my guts

Now that it's dark
I can see

So stop
And set me free...
