I wake up. Aaron is sleeping next to me in our bed. I got home two weeks ago today. He had to go through so much therapy to get his memory back to the point it is at now. I sit up and go to stretch but feel the same sharp pain in my chest. A small grunt and "ow" escape my mouth. "Aphmau! Are you ok?" Aaron bolts awake and looks at me with worry in his eyes. "Aaron, sorry. I just went to stretch and my scar hurt. It's getting better, just have sharp pains sometimes." "Ok, good. I just, I've been super jumpy and stuff. The memory therapist said that it has to do with everything that happened." "That makes sense. I just don't want to worry you Aaron. How are you doing?" Aaron looks down before answering me, "I've been doing better. I still haven't gotten my vision back. All of the doctors have said I probably wont get it back unless I go through surgery. It's been hard to remember things when I can't see the people I'm trying to remember." I feel so bad for Aaron. He'll never be able to see me again. Other than Melissa I'm his only family left. I put my hand to Aarons cheek and rub my finger under is eye, "Hey, just let me know if I can help. I'll do anything, as long as you're happy." "Thanks Aph, I just wish I could see you again," He gives me a soft smile and tears fill his eyes. I kiss his cheek and pull his head into me. I never want to let Aaron go again. Before everything I would have felt so selfish thinking that but now, I can't imagine going through this without him. Everyone has changed so much since we got back. The only two names Zane can say without thinking about it is my name or the name Nana, which is what he calls Kawaii~Chan. I can't believe we all survived everything that happened. "Hey Aaron, do you want me to make breakfast today?" Aaron sits up and looks in my direction, "I... I want to try." I smile, "Ok, you can make it but I'll help." "Thanks Aph." Aaron and I get out of bed, get dressed, and head down stares for me to help him make pancakes.
Aaron and I sit next to each other at the table and eat our pancakes. I have to help him sometimes, but he's been getting better at doing things like eating on his own. When we finish he stands up and grabs both of our plates. "Aaron! Are you sure you don't want me to get the plates?" "I'm fine Aph. I want to do it on my own." "Ok. I know how important it is to you that you're able to do things on your own," I watch as Aaron takes our plates to the sink. He sets them inside and rinses them off. He turns around then looks in my direction. I can tell he needs help making it to the couch but he doesn't want to ask for it. I stand up and take him by the arm. "Thanks Aph." "No problem Aaron, you're making a lot of progress really quickly so don't be scared to ask for help."
I guide Aaron to the couch and he sits down. I walk over to wear his guitar case is leaning next to the tv. As I do almost every morning after breakfast, I pick up the guitar case and carry it over to Aaron. I set it on the couch next to him then sit down on his other side. Aaron unzips the case and takes his guitar out. Putting one hand around the neck he strums down on the strings. A mess of notes play. Aaron frowns. "Don't worry, you'll get it Aaron," I put my hand over his on the neck of the guitar. I move his fingers into position for one of the notes I've learned so I can help Aaron relearn how to play guitar. I gently push his fingers down and I feel him put down the rest of the pressure on the strings, "Ok, try again." Aaron strums down again and a note plays. He strums up and down again a few times. I move my hand away and put both my hands in my lap. I smile as I watch Aaron practice. He trys to move his fingers to a new chord, but it doesn't sound right. He was off with one finger so I correct him again. He strums up and down a few times, then he starts switching between the two notes. Eventually, after about 5-10 minutes, he gets it perfectly. He turns his head to my direction and smiles, "I did it!" He has finally learned the first two notes of the song Eternity. The song he first song I heard him play on the guitar when I first met him in the music room. He picks his guitar back up off his lap and plays the notes again, perfectly. I smile and move Aarons guitar back into the case. I kiss him and wrap my arms around his neck. When I look up at him he wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me closer into a hug. "Aph... when... if you had known what would happen because you wanted to be with me would you still have stayed with me?" "Of course I would have Aaron. This wasn't your fault. There wouldn't have been anyway for you to have known this would happen." I see that Aaron has tears running down his face. I wipe them away. I rub my fingers through Aarons hair to mess it up, "You'll never find anything that could make me not want to be with you Aaron." Then there is a knock at the door. "Stay here, I'll get it," I say standing up.
I walk over to the door and open it. Standing out side is my mom, "Hey mija, how are you doing to day?" "Good mom, but where is Eric?" "Oh, he is going over to check on Katelyn and Travis so I thought I'd check on you and Aaron." "Thanks mom come inside." I invite my mom in. Aaron turns his head in my moms direction, "Hi Sylvanna." "Hello Aaron, how are you doing?" "I... I'm getting better. How are you?" "I'm doing a lot better," my mom finishes with Aaron and directs her attention towards both of us, "Now, is there anything you two need done around the house. If not we can just have a day to talk, and I'll make your favorite homemade tacos for lunch in a few hours Aphmau." "Thanks mom! We don't have anything we need done but if you just want to hang out with us for the day then that'll be great!" "Alright we'll do that," my mom says.
My mom and I walk over and sit on the couch, with me next to Aaron and my mom on the other side with the window behind her. We put on a movie but we really just sit and talk to distract Aaron since he can't see the movie. We continue to talk for the rest of the day. Only taking a break for Aaron and I to help my mom make the tacos for lunch.
This part was a lot longer but I enjoyed writing it! Let me know if you're enjoying the story so far. Let me know any specific characters you want to see and also if you have any ideas of how they would be recovering and such. If I like it I might try to use it in future parts. Thanks for reading <3
