Keep Me Close

Prologue

Spencer's POV

"... in 20 years, I'll remember your face. But you won't remember mine."

I looked up to see her eyes swelling with tears. A smirk was plastered across her face as she stared down at me. She was laughing quietly, waiting to see how I would react.

"Goodbye Cat."

I released the chain from my hand and walked out of the van without turning back.

That night in my room after I came home, I couldn't help but replay those words over, and over again in my head. What if she was right?

I looked at the picture frame sitting on my bedside table. My mom was smiling warmly, and she was holding me close with her left arm. A smile was plastered to my face. I grabbed the frame and rubbed my thumb along the glass. A tear landed above my mother's face. I held onto the frame tightly and brought to my chest. I laid my body on my bed, as I silently cried to myself as I dozed off to sleep.

Hey everyone! I just wanted to give a bit of background to the story before we got into it.

This story takes place a year after this crackdown. I wanted Cat to play a role in the story, so her character is entirely based around who she played in the show. Spencer, and the rest of the criminal minds cast, will also be playing true to their characters in the show. Sophia Gonzales, however, will be based around my own personal character that I chose to come up with.

Regardless of using the cast, this story is entirely based around my thoughts and ideas, not a specific episode. Although there may be references to certain scenes or conversations, it is only to add more to their characters. I do not own the rights to the criminal minds cast, as they are not my characters.

Also: I just wanted to make it clear that Spencer is younger in this story. He is about 26 in the way that I'm writing, and Sophia is about 23 years old.
