Yuu's .p.o.v
"Yuichiro Amane?" I turned to the voice who was calling out my name to meet a tall white-haired man, "Good afternoon, I'm Shinya Hiragi. You're here for your first day, correct?" I nodded to his words and he shot me a bright smile.
I like him already. He seems cheerful and like a good person
"Well for now I'll just get you to return books to their places and when you learn where everything is I'll teach you how to work the computer and such," I nodded to his words as we started to move from the entrance to the checkout.
"Not very talkative are you?" "Ah, sorry... I'm just a little nervous, this is my first ever part-time job," I tugged at the ends of my hoodie sleeves as I followed my new boss.
"No need to be nervous, I won't bite your head off and nor will anyone else in this library... well maybe Shinoa," I hummed in response. Shinoa and I are actually somewhat friends, she's the one who told me about the library looking for employees.
I don't have any friends in school nor do I intend to but Shinoa just kind of appeared after we were matched for a pair project, since then she won't leave me alone as in her words 'You won't get anywhere in life without people skills' and I get where she's coming from.
Mother and father said we would make a cute couple after she invited herself over to my house. I agree we would make quite the pair but sadly I can't developers feelings for her. If you know what I mean or have been through the same you'd understand. Shinoa is an amazing girl, pretty too but I can't think of her more than a sister even though I try my hardest to.
"I left out some books from last evening for us to put away as practice while no one is here," he said and gestured to the pile of books on the table.
I nodded and he split them in half and handed some over to me.
"If you open the book the first page has a sticker with a barcode, correct?" I nodded. "Non-fiction books will have a letter and number there as well while fiction books are sorted by the authors' name, non-fiction books also have stickers of their number on the bottom of the spine," he said showing on a book he was holding," I closed the book I was looking it and looked at the bottom of its spine. "B120,"
"The letter stands for categories so A stands for animals. All nonfiction books are upstairs, follow me," I did as I was told and followed him upstairs. "As you can see all of our bookcases have signs so here we have 'biology' and the previous bookshelf shows 'art' have them alphabetically-organized so it isn't so hard to know where what belongs," I nodded, absorbing each and every word he said like a sponge.
We walked in between the bookshelves and he trailed his fingers along with the books, "1 to 100 top shelf, 101 to 200 middle shelf, 201 onwards bottom shelf,"
He said spinning around and going back a bit before pointing to a spot, "Your book belongs here," I went towards him and looked where he was pointing before my eyes went wide, he was spot on. Pointing at the space between two books labeled B119 and B121.I slipped the book into the empty slot and flashed him a smile, "Don't worry Yuichiro, soon enough you'll know where everything is," he smiled in return before saying his book number and leading me to the "War and conflict" section.
Maybe this job isn't so bad.
