Forever and Always

Chapter 4

Lydia's POV April 1942

The minute Howard Stark had finshed talking and left the stage Steve disappeared. I know where he would be I saw the place while I was helping Rose find her mother.
"Bucky there is an enlistment office around here. It is just next to where the toffee apples arr sold." I say to him quietly as if I do not want anyone else to hear. Both Becca and Bucky hear me though and after we just starecat each other for a few short moments we all start to make our way out of the bustling crowd. Once out of the majority of it we start to run to the office to stop Steve from going through with this again. Bucky runs faster than Becca and I as he is neither in a dress or heels. By the time I got there Bucky and Steve confronting each other so Bdcca chose this moment to act like she didn't know them and buy herself a toffee apple and watch the scene unfold. I walked up thd steps ready to add my input if needed but I highly doubted it they both would eventually come to an agreement they always did.
"Bucky there are men laying down their lives I have every right as them." My brother says and I can't help but think about Rose who had lost her father I couldn't loose my brother
"Right cause you have nothing to prove." Bucky responds before smiling and I know what is going to be said next all too well. Out of the corner of my eye I can see a doctor listening in on their conversation. Dr Erskine I met him a few weeks back I guess he is still looking for his perfect solider.
"Your a punk." Bucky mutteres quite loudly before hugging Steve
"Jerk." Is the response he is given and I grin at this
"Hey Lydia as it is my last night wanna go dancing?" Bucky asks beckoning for me to join the duo. I look for Becca but she is already gone once more.
"Don't win the war till I get there." Steve shouts as me and Bucky make our way down the steps together. Bucky turns around to face his best friend once more to salute him before we leave him to attempt to enlist for the 7th time.

3rd Person

That night Lydia and Bucky danced for hours before returning to their apartment for the night before Bucky would soon leave early in the morning. Rebecca spent that night behind the stage and talking to the one and only Howard Stark who recurited her to be a nurse for the project that he was working on much to her delight. And as for Steve we all know his story but for those who do not. He was accepted into the army for the chance to be the first super soldier.
