THE fog had already reached us. The girl whimpered in my hold, she held on to me tighter.
"What are we going to do?" she asked while shaking, her right hand snaked up her brother's body. It was normal for them to be scared, she must have been told the stories of how normal humans had gone to the dark and never come back but werewolves were free to go the dark besides they were half creatures of the light and half creatures of the dark.
"Don't fret"....they can smell fear...." I am here." As I said this, I remembered my mother's last words. I dug my nails into the palm of my hand till there were visible red lines on my palm. The Beautiful golden glare of the sun had gone.
"Can't we just walk to the sun?" The small boy asked. "No, we can't," I said in the softest voice I could master." Why?" He asked with his hands tightening around his sister.
" You see..." I bent down to the boys level" ... when the fog comes and the sunset's we end up being in a different realm or as some call it a different world and the other world which we were in before the fog becomes spiritual and those who run into the safety of their worldly houses go into the spiritual realm as well. So if we walk we would end up in a different place when the Sunrise's ." He nodded his head as I explained the whole hindrance.
"So are we just going to stay here all night?" his sister asked with concern. "No, we will find a safer place to stay, Every place has a weak point, so I will find it," I said as I stood. "Wonderful," the little boy said as he looked up at the sky, it dawned on me that they had never seen the night sky. It was a beauty but with beauty comes danger.
"We should advance," I said as I started walking. They quickly run up to me and stuck themselves at my side." ".
"You thought right, But if we stay in the same place then it will be easier for creatures to find us. So, we are going to the weakest part of the night, there, there will be less danger." I said. I knew they didn't want to follow a stranger who just killed two men without hesitation. I could see how the girl was edgy, but it didn't bother me if she wished to survive then she had to follow me.
" So... What's your name?" The girl asked. I wasn't going to answer that question any time soon. she kept talking while walking, she had tripped about four times and kept screaming every time she fell. Her brother was nothing like her, just silent and observant.
We had been walking for about Three hours minutes, I was carrying the boy and the girl was walking sluggishly. At some point in the way, there was a place crawling with creatures, I could feel it, I didn't want to tell the children since humans can only take a small amount of fear, let alone children. The place was trampled until all the rocks looked like sandy soils with a ton of mud. It was written all over the place, danger. It was obvious that the area was filled with all types of creatures. It wasn't the worse I had seen but it was a first for the children.
I couldn't help but feel like we were being watched and the actuality that they weren't attacking as was... strange.
We had reached a lake which illuminated the moon and stars but much brighter. It looked like a mirror that sent wave after wave of light. the boy woke up from my hands with a stretch and turned away from the light to cuddle me. "Wake up" I whispered into the boy's ear. He woke up with a lazy yawn. I slowly bent down to put him down.
"What next?" the girl asked. "We will go to the middle of the lake where the light shines most and stay there until morning," I said. The place was filled with light which most creatures of the dark didn't like.
I held both their hands as we walked towards the glowing water. As we walked, the water rippled by every footstep until we were in the middle of the lake.
I sat down and let the night do its work. It had probably been eight hours because the fog was beginning to disappear. I felt a bit uneasy. Then I saw it, two glowing eyes in the darkness. They were looking directly at me, in my soul. Those eyes, they brought a longing feeling in me... It was him.
My other half!!
"MINE" he growled.
Just when I heard that one word from my mate's lips, the fog left. We fell into the water because the sun had risen. There was no fog, no creatures, and... no mate.
