1st Place: EC Awards - Historical Fiction
Final Score: 95/100
Review: The author approaches the style in a creative way, through the self-reflective perspective of the protagonist. The opening prologue was intriguing with enough impact to encourage the reader to continue to the next chapter. As for the author's writing skills and vocabulary, they are flawless! Reading the story felt like I was reading a personal diary, delving into the character's mind. Being familiar with the history of the events and terms, I was awed by the historical accuracy of the setting, people and culture of that time. The story had a reminiscing mood about the man's past life with some hilarious episodes that made it entertaining. And lastly, despite already knowing what happens to the Banu Qurayza tribe, I feel even more curious about the man's story.

"I went in with high expectations and was still blown away! I can find no flaw and can only think of positives as I still yearn to read more. Every single detail is carefully written, chosen and flows. The characters are as real as to me as my neighbors."
