One morning I woke up with a beer in my hand. I laid on a white tiled bathroom floor. My head hurt, I didn’t remember what had happened. The last thing I was remember was dancing. After five minutes of staring at the ceiling I sat up. My back started to crack and it was the best feeling in the world. I looked around the bathroom. One thing I knew, it wasn’t my bathroom. It was Sasha’s bathroom. What am I doing here? I wondered. I felt my face, I had spelt with my glasses on. I prayed to the good lord that they didn’t break. Even with my glasses everything looked fuzzy. I debated if I should get up, the floor was surprisingly comfortable. I didn’t want to but I got up. I could hardly stand straight, I took one step and lost balance. Yup, I was drunk. I never gotten drunk before, so this was new to me.
After a couple of minutes I finally got to the door and opened it, Sasha’s house was like one of those nice big houses you’d see on a TV show. A place for everything, and everything in its place. It was perfect on the inside and always cleaned, now everything was misplaced, vases smashed, red plastic cups on the floor, someone’s throw up, and a couple of other drunk teenagers sleeping. One was on the island and another was on a chair, god that must not be comfortable. I walked slowly to the front door, I had to get out of here. Thank god I lived close to Sasha. As I walked to the door I saw someone on the stairs. She had dirty blonde hair and the whitest skin that I’d ever saw. It was Sasha. Damn everyone got hammered and I don’t remember a thing. I was going to wake her up but I decided not to and I left. What used to be a five minute walk, now took my at least 15 minutes to walk to my house. The sky was blue with a hint of pink, it must’ve been really early, about six o’clock in the morning. My parents didn’t wake till eight so I’d be clear. Finally I reached the back door of my house. I grabbed the key from under the mat, it took me a couple tries to actually pick it up. After I finally had it I unlocked the door and tip toed into the kitchen.
I kept tip toeing to my bedroom, when I reached the landing upstairs I was beat. I wanted pass out again, but I had to get to my bedroom. I got up and continued to tip toe, Thank god I didn’t have to pass my parents room. I finally made it to my bedroom, I opened the door and walked in and saw my bed, and it was like heaven seeing it. I laid down on my bed and I passed out.
~~~~~~~~~
I woke up with a weird taste in my mouth and something poking my butt, I smacked my mouth the get some of the taste out and felt around to see what was poking me, it was my phone! Thank god it was still on me. If I had left at Sasha’s house I would have to walk back and get it and I wouldn’t feel like it.
I turned my phone on and saw at least fifty notifications. Some Instagram likes, Tweets, Snapchat, and about five text messages from a number I didn’t recognize. I unlocked my phone to read the text messages.
They read:
Hey there cutie what’s up?
----
Last night was crazy? Where did you wake up?
----
Oh, I almost forgot this is Jared
----
I hope you got home alright.
----
Call me when you have the chance ;)
Shit. Shit. Shit. I swear if I hooked up with someone I’d kill myself. I’ll have to call this Jared guy later when I’m not mad at myself. I got up and showered the smell of alcohol away. Sort of, I think it still kind of lingers on you for a bit. I was worried that my parents might smell it then I’ll get a big lecture on how drinking is bad for you and that it’ll ruin my life. I mean come one it was only four cups or beer.
I slowly walked down the stairs to go to the kitchen, I was thinking I could slow down time by doing that but I wasn’t. When I got to the kitchen no one was in there. I ran back upstairs to see if my parents were in bed. Part of me wished they weren’t doing anything that would scare me for life. When I opened their door the bed was perfectly made and my parents were not there. I then went back to the kitchen to find a note on the marble island. The note read: “We have that benefit tonight, and we have to be there now to help set up. We saw you asleep and left you, make yourself breakfast and don’t forget to go to the dry cleaners to pick up your suit for tonight. Remember it starts at six. Don’t be late. – Love Mom and Dad.
I had forgotten all about the benefit. My Mom is the head of Atwell Publishing. They are a big book publishing company. My mom oversees almost every story to pass through those doors. My mom had a love of reading ever since she was six years old. My father is the Dean of our local college. So you can say that I live a privileged life, but I’m not spoiled and I have an allowance which I work for. My parents didn’t have it as good as I did. So they don’t want to be some snobby rich kid, to be honest even if my parents taught me the importance of a dollar, I would never be snobby. I enjoy the simple things in life. My friends are in the same boat as me with parents who made a name for themselves but all my friends have everything handed to them on a silver platter.
Anyways, every year my parents hold a benefit to support a different charity every year, this year it’s UNICEF. I have gone to each one ever since I was born. I hated it because I was the only child there, but this year supposedly all the adults are bringing their kids, which are probably little four year olds. I was not looking forward to this.
