All was quiet in Godrics hollow, too quite. There was an Erie silence only broken by the cries of a child, the-boy-who lived, Harry Potter. Or maybe not, no one knew exactly what happened that night. The two Potters were at a Halloween party and the Potter children were merely a few months old.
The house was looked like any other, it was 2 stories tall with large windows. It was big but not particularly big, it was tall but not particularly tall. But it was housing the most powerful wizard in Britain, the-boy-who lived. Voldemort knew this so he apparated to Godric's Hollow, and on that fateful night was defeated. Peter Pettigrew was in charge of taking care of the children, unbeknownst to the Potters he was a death eater though a terrible one. He stayed with the Dark Lord out of fear, he had no courage and little loyalty but all the self-preservation in the world. That night Peter was stunned trying to "fight" the dark lord.
Voldemort's POV
Voldemort stepped over peter Pettigrew's unmoving body. Voldemort understood how prophecy worked too well. He knew he couldn't just kill the prophecized boy, he would have to weaken him, physically and mentally. He walked up the stair into the young children's bedroom. The room seemed to be split in half. On one side the was a wailing, brown-haired child with soft brown eyes. The floor was littered with unused toys. what was on the other side shocked him. There were no toys lying around, only a near clean crib. In the crib was another child but this time the boy had jet-black hair and piercing green eyes. His eyes looked into Voldemort's as if he was gazing into his soul, somehow the 3-month-old baby radiated danger but Voldemort didn't kill him. He raised his wand performed numerous blocks and charms on the boy to hide his true power, then he turned to the Not-boy-who lived.
The entire time the boy had been crying and wailing. Voldemort took his wand and helped the boy, he gave him above average reflexes and above-average magic knowing full we that he would be mistaken for the boy-who-lived. The last thing he did was risky, he marked the boy and blew-up the room before killing himself with the Avada-Kadavra curse. He didn't tell a soul about his master plan for he knew it would work perfectly, and it did. He howled in agony as the curse hit him and he became a wraith and flew off into the night.
Not Voldemort's POV
The Potters rushed back along with many OTP members at the moment of Pettigrew's call for help. They arrived at the house only to find it beat - up and covered in debris as if there had been a fight. James helped the still somewhat stunned peter to his feet as lily rushed upstairs to the children. Lily screamed in triumph which only caused everyone to run upstairs faster. Quickly Dumbledore arrived at the young Potter's bedroom. Lily raised the still screaming Not-boy-who-lived up, "look, he's been marked and He-must-not-be-named is gone!" lily said with pride. It did mildly worry Dumbledore that fame might get to their heads but he trusted that lily would be a kind girl and help James. HE examined the twin's magical cores, Harry's core seemed stronger than average, while, Dumbledore furrowed his brow, was weaker but still strong enough to be a wizard. "you seem to be right Lily, but your other son's magic seems to be rather weak," both potter's frowned. That was the day when Ash potter, the real Boy-Who-Lived's life began to go downhill.
This was the first mistake.
