"So, the recipe is pretty simple... So I think that even idiots like you can manage to cook it properly" - Urata paused for a moment, looking at Shima and Senra, who were already chatting. Seriously, how is he supposed to work with them? - "Are you listening?" - he asked his friends, who stopped the chatter and raised their heads on the brunet.
"Yes, we are" - Shima quickly answered, trying to make his lie less obvious. Urata shrugged and grinned evilly.
"If you say so... Hm, can you tell me what we are going to cook?" - the brunet tilted his head in curiosity, continuing evilly grinning. He was sure that the purple-haired wouldn't answer his question.
"Ehm... Maybe, cookies?" - Shima said his guess. Urata was surprised: he certainly didn't expect the right answer.
"You guessed it correctly, but you should pay more attention unless you want to ruin the festival by poisoning some students with your awful cookies" - Urata couldn't restrain himself from malicious comment, while Senra rolled his eyes.
"Is he always like that?" - although the blonde and the brunet were friends for a year, he still couldn't believe in Urata's rude attitude almost all the time.
"Almost. You should get used to it" - Shima stated, remembering some moments from the beginning of the friendship between him and Urata. Surprisingly, those two were childhood friends, and no matter what happened stayed by each other's side. It was quite surprising, actually.
"Stop wasting our time and go take the ingredients." - their talk was interrupted by Urata's order.
"As you wish, sir" - Shima smiled, feignedly bowing. Senra was barely able to dodge the apple flying towards the purple-haired. The blonde facepalmed, while Shima sheepishly laughed.
"Let's not make him wait" - suggested Senra and the boys went to collect all necessary objects.
—-
"I think that is enough" - Shima looked at the bowl worriedly. It was half-filled with the ingredients.
"You can only feed half of the literature club members with this amount. Add more!" - Urata discontentedly looked at Shima, gesturing him to add more. The purple-haired obeyed.
"Okay-okay" - he said, not fully trusting Urata's judgment. Meanwhile, the brunet walked towards Senra, who was trying to divide the chocolate bar into little pieces.
"What are you even doing? It's not the way to slice chocolate properly!" - he angrily shouted, taking the knife from Senra's hand and slicing the chocolate in two seconds.
"Seriously, Urata? You've been scolding us for everything and not doing anything by yourself!" - Shima exclaimed, feeling pity for Senra.
"What's the point of creating a team if I would be the one to do everything? Okay, I'll try to explain it to you one more time, so you'll be able to do everything correctly." - Urata repeated his explanations, a little slower at that time.
Unfortunately, it turned out into another couple (hundreds) of apples that there thrown into Shima and Senra's heads. It was worth an attempt, though.
—"Finally, through pain and suffering, we've finished the first stage" - stated Urata, washing his hands from the pieces of pastry.
"What do you mean the first stage?" - asked the purple-haired. He was already tired.
"Obviously, there are still so many things to do to reach perfection. As for now, the cookies seem to be shapeless pieces of pastry, so we need to heat it in the oven. I'll set a timer and you two should wait." - Urata explained, placing the bowl in the oven.
"So boring..." - after some time passed, said Shima, yawning. Suddenly, Urata stood up.
"I think we've forgotten about something. You two have to make a cream while I'll go to the shop for something. It's a very important task, so try not to mess it up" - Urata quickly said, gathering all his things.
"What?" - Senra was surprised by a sudden Urata's quit. Although, none of them managed to disagree - the brunet disappeared as fast as the lightning.
"Is he serious? How are we supposed to make a cream? Do you know the recipe, Shima?" - Senra stood up, wondering about the possibility to prepare a good cream.
"No... but we can try, right?" - Shima encouragingly smiled, searching into his phone for recipes.
"I have a bad feeling about this..." - Senra adverted his gaze. Anyways, there wasn't any other option, so the cooking without Urata began.
---
The result of their cooking was not as bad as they were expected. At least, the kitchen wasn't completely destroyed."Are you sure that we have to boil it? Won't it burn?" - Senra appraisingly glared at the bowl with almost-cooked cream.
"It is that the recipe says. Let's follow it and hope that it will be eatable" - Shima rotated the bowl to the light and checked everything with the recipe.
"Don't you trust the recipe I found?" - the purple-haired asked, noticing the blonde's mood.
"I don't trust our cooking" - he stated.
"Eh, put some faith in us! We've done half of the work, soon it will be over!" - Shima cheered the boy up, smiling brightly.
"I really hope so..." - Senra wanted to believe those words, so he smiled back
---
"We've seriously managed to do it?" - Senra looked around the kitchen, still not completely realizing that that was the end of the recipe.
"I told you that you should believe in us!" - Shima exclaimed cheerfully.
"Yeah, maybe I was wrong." - the blonde accepted the defeat, while the purple-haired was evilly laughing.
Then the sound of the door opening was heard.
"I'm back! Wait, where does this strange smell come from?" - Urata started his phrase with a happy voice, but then it turned into an anxious one. He quickly ran into the kitchen, checked everything, and noticed, that cookies in the stove had almost burnt. The brunet didn't waste a second and quickly switched the stove off.
"U-urata, we are so sorry... We were too excited and forgot to turn off the stove" - Senra excised themselves, trying not to catch Urata's disappointed glare.
"Ugh, whatever... Nothing was burnt, wasn't it? You should wait a little longer before we can eat cupcakes" - however, Urata didn't seem surprised or upset. He quickly changed the topic.
"Cupcakes?!" - Shima questioned. He wasn't expecting that from the brunet.
"I went to the shop to buy some additions for them, and when the cream gets colder, we can eat them" - he shrugged, quickly taking out everything from the bag. There were lots of things to decorate the cupcakes.
"Thank you so much, Urata!" - Senra smiles and hugged the brunet, who was scared at the first, but then relaxed and let himself be hugged.
"Eh... you are welcome... But don't plan on eating every cupcake! They are for the whole literature club" - he tried to cover his embarrassment.
"So, basically, you made us cook them for Sakata?" - Shima joked, receiving a laugh from Senra
"N-no!" - Urata blushed, still not admitting his feelings
