Quick note
This is a dedication story to one of my good friends, as well as a shout out for a story we're writing together. A fellow Leo in arms and one of the greatest friends I could ask for. A brilliant author with so many bright ideas, inspiring in so many ways.
Thank you so so so much for being there. Lifting me up and making sure I don't forget my own worth! Now you better not forget how amazing you are or else I'll haunt you!
This is for you Starlithian, you're amazing!❤I dragged my feet on the ground, muttering nonsense beneath my breath. My first day if highschool. Yayy.
Cue the sarcasm.
Nothing is worse than being the new kid at school. What makes it worse is that I'm a hybrid. Part elf, part witch, and I suspect part porcelain doll.Oz's School for the Hide and Go Seek Children is the equivalent of a school for monsters. But just a bit more... Dramatic. The humans are he'll bent on wiping us off the face of the earth. So this lovely hellhole was created to protect us.
Lovely thought isn't it? Although to be honest some if these monsters could do with being wiped out. I shook my head, pushing these thoughts away as I entered the large building of the school. The school was divided in three spread out sectors. The earth, the place parents always tell you to keep your feet. The air, the place your head often gets stuck in. Or am I thinking of the floofy white sky marshmallows? And then you get the sea.
Smack fucking bam in the middle of the Bermuda triangle.I trudged through the hallway, ignoring the bunch of students around me. There's an obvious divide though, all the "pure bloods" on one side, and the "tainted bloods" on the other. The pure bloods consist of elves, centaurs, draconians, sirens and vampires. I shivered at the last word. God I hated vampires. The tainted bloods were people like me, werewolves, witches, imps, sprites and fae. So basically a typical highschool just in monster terms.
I groaned to myself, thinking that despite the fact that I hated the stuff, I really needed some if that dirty black bean juice. I forgot it's name.
I caught a faint whiff of it wafting from the teachers lounge and practically turned into jelly.Coffee.
I collected my books from my locker, holding them carefully in my arms, trying desperately not to drop them. My mind wanted to stay sleeping for another hour without any loud sounds waking me up. I should've expected Zeus to betray me. Fucker.
A draconian kid crashed into my shoulder, making my books fall to the floor with a series of loud bangs.'By Puesidan's beard! Can't you watch where you're going?' I snapped, instantly irritated. The kid glared at me with glowing amber eyes. 'Excuse me? But I rather think it's you who should watch where you're going, you fucking f-'
'Now, now, Salvador. No need to be so rude.' A silky voice interrupted him. My heart stuttered in my chest. That... That was his voice. Ace... I looked up, hope sparking in my eyes. He stared down at me, his head tilted to the side. His stunning violet eyes were framed by a waterfall of his long white hair. His shoulders were tense, as if he carried a large weight. His brow furrowed, his lips parted, he was deep in thought. I stared at lips, picturing myself kissing him after so many years.Last I saw Ace was when I was 5. I'd had a crush on him since forever. I lost contact with him after my mom died though... And the years if searching for him made me fall in love with him. I fell in love with the faint memory of his smile. The glow of his stunning eyes remained glued to my every thought. I barely remembered his scent... The scent that made me feel so alive. I fell in love with the memory of him chasing me and his younger brother through the gardens. I fell in love with the memory of his laugh. I fell in love with the way he looked at me... With this crooked smile, an unreasonable glint in his eyes. Who cared that he was three years older than me? I loved him. I still love him.
'J-Jason?'
His voice interrupted my thoughts, bringing me back down to earth. I opened my mouth to respond when a pair of lips closed over my own. My eyes widened, my body went numb. I realised that Ace... Ace was kissing me! He was kissing me. He was kissing me. I kissed him back instantly, inhaling his scent, oak and dusty books, paint and pencil lead, ink and lemon zest. His lips were soft, like marshmallows. His hands wrapped around my waist held me tightly, like I was a dream. I clutched him around his neck, standing on my tiptoes because I was so short. I held him for dear life, afraid he'd disappear again.'I missed you.' I sniffed when our kiss broke apart. Tears left salty trails down my cheeks. Ace smiled at me, his own eyes welled with emotion.
'I missed you more my Angel.' he murmured, sending shivers down my spine. 'I missed you so much.'
'I love you, Ace.' my voice cracked as I said those four simple words.
'I love you too. I still have a question for you though.' he leaned down, his mouth right next to my ear and whispered the most beautiful words I'd ever heard in my life.'Will you marry me?'
