Luke
"Are you going to Audrey's house tonight?"
"Why would I go to her house?" I asked through the phone.
"She's hosting a party. I told you during lunch, Luke. Do you ever pay attention to me?" My girlfriend whined.
No. "Oh yeah, I remember now. I can't go. My dad is having some people over for dinner tonight and he wants me to be there. I'm sorry." I'm not.
"Oh okay. Can we hang out tomorrow then? I barely see you anymore."
"I'll see you at school tomorrow. Bye Ali."
"But-." I pressed the red button to end the call. I sighed and layed down on my bed. I really should break up with Allison since she's beginning to annoy me but she's the best option. She's loyal and not too clingy, until now.
There was a knock on my door. "Your dad wants you to get dressed. The guests will be arriving in an hour. He told you to wear something nice." A housemaid in her mid thirties told me. I didn't bother to remember her name since she would be gone in a few weeks. My dad is very hard to please.
"I'm on it." I sighed and she left. I made my way to the bathroom attached to my room. I took a quick shower. When I was done I put my hair in its usual quiff. I put on a dark blue button up and black skinny jeans, one of the few I owned without rips in it.
Dinner was never a pleasant occasion at the Hemmings household. At least not to me. My dad had invited one of his business partners and their family over, like every night. We were sat at the massive dinner table eating a dish which name slipped my mind as soon as the cook had told us. It was nice though.
There was a conversation going, I wasn't paying attention. I was glad our 'guests' didn't have any children because when they did I was expected to talk to them. I let my mind wander off.
"So Lucas, you're very good looking you must have a girlfriend. Who's the lucky girl?" The lady suddenly asked. She'd introduced herself at the beginning of the evening but I'd forgotten her name. Something with a M? Marina, maybe. I didn't know.
Everyone's attention was now on me. The question made me feel uneasy. Maybe because she called me Lucas. I don't like when people call me Lucas. "Her name is Allison."
"You have a girlfriend? Why didn't you tell me, Luke. You never talk to me anymore." My mum looked hurt.
"It's not my fault you never ask how I've been." I told her.
My mum wanted to reply but my dad gave her a look. "Not now." He whispered. By then the guests had figured out our family wasn't as perfect as we first seemed. There fell an awkward silence.
The lady decided to speak up again breaking the silence. "Lucas-"
"It's Luke." I mumbled.
"I'm sorry. Do you already know what you want to do after you've graduated?" If the topic Luke's girlfriends had the word avoid on it, the topic Luke's future had a big red cross on it and the word AVOID.
"Oh Luke wants to become a doctor." My dad said quickly. "Does anyone want desert? I'll fetch it from the kitchen." His chair scraped against the floor as he stood up.
"No."
"If you don't want desert you can go to your room, honey." My mum said nervously.
"No." I said angrily. "I don't want to become a doctor. I've told you so many times already. I want to be a muscian."
"Will you excuse us?" My dad dragged me out of the room. We were now in the huge hallway of our house. "You will not become a musician, I won't have it. I don't care what you choose to study as long as it isn't something ridiculous as music."
"It's my life, I can do what I want." I yelled him.
"And it's my money. All your life you've lived off it. All your life you've gotten what you wanted. For once in your life you have to listen to your mum and me."
"That's all I've been doing my whole life. Listening to you two and you know what? I'm sick of it."
"You're so spoiled and you don't even notice it." I began walking towards the door and opened it, grabbed my jacket and slammed the door behind me. The cold night air hit me and I shivered.
The door opened behind me, it was my dad. "I swear if you leave now, don't you dare to ever come back." He yelled.
"Good, I wan't planning on coming back anyway." I started walking away.
I was sitting at the bar drinking a coke. I didn't feel like getting drunk tonight. It was stupid because I was always up for partying and a drink. But not tonight. Where was I going to stay tonight? I couldn't go home, I didn't want to go home. I never wanted to see my parents again, they disgusted me. I also didn't want stay with people from school. They also disgusted me.
I finished my drink and decided it wasn't of any use to stay here. I exited the club. It must have been the first time I wasn't a little bit drunk leaving the club. The alleyway I always walked through to get home was dark and looked creepy. I shivered.
I noticed a dark figure leaning against a wall in the alleyway. Although it was dark, I could make out it was a boy, maybe around my age. I got an idea. I started walking towards the boy. Maybe I could stay at his place tonight. I didn't know what I was thinking. The guy could be a murderer.
I was standing in front of the boy, who was still leaning againt the wall. I still couldn't see his face. His posture showed me he was nervous. I mentally slapped myself. Ofcourse he was freaked out I'd be too if a total stranger approached me in the middle of the night.
I went to reassure him I wasn't any danger to him when suddenly he grabbed my shoulders. He turned so we switched positions and slammed my back against the wall. I shut my eyes in pain and began yelling.
All of a sudden the stranger's lips crashed into mine. I found myself kissing back immediately. I couldn't think straight. Just how suddenly the kissed began, it stopped.
I opened my eyes and found a pair of green eyes staring back. Before I could do anything, the boy ran away.
"Wait! Don't go." I ran through the alleyway after him. When I arrived at the busy road I didn't see the boy anymore.
"Shit." I breathed heavily. I was out of breath from the kiss and running. "What the fuck just happened."
