After the war, the Slytherin house made a pact: they would not be stuck up, snobbish, and they would be nice.
On the first night after their return to Hogwarts, they go down to the dungeons led by Snape.
Snape: the password is 'mudblood'
Slytherins: we're not saying it sorry,
Snape: what? You have too!
Slytherins: make us.
It's gets to a pretty big argument, and ended with the Slytherins winning. They changed the password to "did you do a good thing today?" So that they can remember to do one.
