"So... how's things with Auba?" Asked Adri, leaning over Jord's desk to gain her attention during their Finance class. The Australian girl glanced up at her, vague amusement in her eyes. She seemed to spend her life fielding questions from her friends about her relationship, and she appreciated their concern for her. However, it was evident that a lot of it was concern for Auba himself, and that made her happy. Jordyn had not yet come across somebody who had a bad word to say about him, and she appreciated the fact that so many people cared about him. So, whilst the constant questions were a little annoying, for someone who tended to internalise everything, she endeavoured to answer them as best as possible.
"Things are good," she replied, after a moment's thought, giving Adri a smile. "We've been together for a week now."
"You both look happy," said Adri. "I mean... Auba always looks happy, but..."
"And I don't?" Jord teased her. The blonde girl's eyes widened, and she shook her head.
"No no, I didn't mean it like that," she stated, before realising Jordyn was joking with her.
"What are we talking about?" Asked Venus, leaning over to join in the conversation, pushing her accounting book away.
"Jord and Auba being cute," Adri offered an explanation, causing Jord to roll her eyes at her friend.
"I swear I get asked about him more than anything else," she chuckled. "Leave me be, alright? I want to complete these exercises."
So saying, she took up her calculator, and continued working.
"Alright then, little miss goody two shoes. You get that A grade," said Adri, with a laugh.
"I'll be lucky to get a B at this rate," the Australian responded.
As she worked away on balancing the accounts in the workbook before her, her mind continued to wander. She and Auba had had their first real date since they got together only a few days prior, and the blonde had to fight to keep the smile off her face as she thought over it, lest Adri or Venus spy it, and the questioning begin again.
Auba had taken them to a butterfly park, telling Jord to make sure she brought her camera. He knew how much she loved animals, and whilst butterflies were not animals, strictly speaking, he was pretty sure she'd find them beautiful anyway, and he had been right.
"I'm happy you didn't try to surprise me," Jord had told him, after he'd explained where they were going.
"You don't like surprises?" Asked Auba.
"No," she shook her head. "I like that you asked me if I'd enjoy going to a butterfly sanctuary, because if I hadn't, and you'd just taken us there, it could have been awkward."
"True," Auba smiled at her. "Although I'm not sure awkward is really a thing that happens with us. It hasn't happened so far, anyway."
"Also true," said Jord, with a light laugh.
"I'll bear it in mind though," said Auba, as he drove them towards the sanctuary. "No surprises. If I can help it."
It was beautifully humid inside the sanctuary, and before long they had both unwound their scarves, and removed their beanies that had protected them from the elements outside. Neither of them could believe how friendly the butterflies were. It was super easy for Jord to get photos of them, as they didn't mind how close you got. They even landed all over the two of them, particularly fancying the bright colours on Auba's jacket.
"They think you're a flower," Jord laughed with delight, turning her camera on him.
"This is amazing, they're so tame!" Auba beamed.
