Season 1

Chapter 29

Ilang beses akong tumingin sa malaking salamin upang tingnan ang aking hitsura. The dark blue dress paired well with my ebony hair and emerald eyes. I tilted my head. Napakagat ako sa aking labi nang marinig ko ang malakas na kabog ng aking dibdib.

Good grief, am I nervous, excited or what? I cannot believe I am feeling strange just because Rionsky will be coming back this day.

Napalunok ako. I tried to calm down. I played with my fingertips. Umupo ako sa upuan.

“You already look beautiful, my lady.” Hilda muttered. I glanced at her.

“I know.” I uninterestedly answered. I pursed my lips and ended up staring at my self in the mirror again. Kumurap ako nang tinitigan ko ang aking mga mata.

“How long are you going to stare in the mirror, my lady? I thought you are gonna pick up the present for the crown prince.” I creased my brows. Tahimik lamang akong suminghal.

“I know. Should I cut my hair short?” I rested my head in my hand. Hilda’s eyes widened. Agad siyang lumapit sa akin at umiling.

“No, my lady. That is one of your charm. His Highness the crown prince would be disappointed. Well, you don’t have to listen to me.” She pouted.

She is really meticulous about it. Well, I guess it would be a shame to cut my long hair. Ilang taon ko pa naman ito na inalagaan.

“Mmm... you are right. How about straightening it? I am getting tired of the curly ends.” I played the tips of my hair.

A change of look, huh? Will it even change my appearance?

Biglaang sumagi sa aking isipan ang nakoronahang prinsipe. I felt my face hot. Hindi ko napigilan na napangisi.

It is not like I want to look good in front of him. I just really wanted to change some of my appearance. I was just getting tired of it.

“Approved.” She gave out a thumbs-up. She excitedly smiled. Ngumisi ako.

“Why not also change your look? Davidron might be getting tired of it. That is why he does not even stare at you.” Sumimangot siya sa pang-aasar ko. She sighed.

“I am fine, my lady. I have already accepted the fact that he is prettier than me. I do not have the motivation to change my look.” My lips formed a straight line of her answer.

Well, she is right, though. Davidron is actually more pretty than her. Thinking about how his face became more pretty these years annoyed me, too. How can a man be so pretty, anyway? It lowers women’s self-esteem.

“Well, if you two really end up together, yous story would be a big hit.” I snorted. “A romance between a servant and a knight, how is that?”

“That only works for me and Davidron.” Arogante niyang sabi. I hid my grimace.

How can she say that with it a straight face? She does not have an ounce of embarrassment. If Davidron heard about it, how would he even react?

“You are really confident. You are not even dating.” Irap ko.

“There is no need to worry for that, my lady. I have even planned for our offspring.” She smirked a confident one.

Gross. What audacity...

“Oh.” Tanging naisagot ko. I leaned on the chair.

Kids, huh? I am not really fond of kids except for my brother. They are annoying and a pain, to be honest. I know I cannot handle them. I would not even dare of having one.

“Well, it’s not like my lady could talk.”

“Huh?” Kumunot ang noo ko.

“You and His Highness are also not dating. You have not even confessed yet. I am way more advanced than you.” My lips parted. Sumingkit ang aking mga mata sa kanya. Suminghal ako.

“It is not like I desire dating.” I chuckled. Ngumisi ako.

I have not really thought of dating since I came to this world. If that happens, it would just be a slim chance.

We went out for the capital. We first stopped by the armory. Hilda opened the door and the bell chimed.

“Welcome.” A fat, middle-aged man said. It was the owner. Itinaas ko ang aking asul na belo. I just gave him a look. His eyes widened. “M-My lady!” He bowed. It looks like he broke in cold sweat. Tumaas lamang ang aking kilay.

“I have come to get the sword.” I said in monotone.

“Yes, my lady.” He frantically went inside a room. Maya-maya pa ay lumabas siya na may dala na bagay na nakabalot.

This is it.

I received it and gently opened it. The beautiful sword greeted my eyes. It was made with the strongest ore and it took the color of the ruby since it was also combined with it. Its hold is black and comfortable. Iwinasiwas ko ito upang subukin ang espada. I mentally nodded. Light and easy.

This is nice.

Ibinalik ko ito sa balot nito.

“Not bad.” I commented.

“Not at all, my lady. Thank you for the compliment.” The owner smiled with greed . Malamig ko lang siyang tinignan.

“How much?”

“It’s three-hundred gold bars, my lady.” He answered with his eyes screaming money. Hindi niya napigilan ang kanyang malaking ngisi.

“It will arrive later.”

“Thank you, my lady!” He continuously nodded. He looks like a dog wagging his tail.

“My lady, I can hold that for you.” Ani Hilda nang nakalabas kami. Davidron quietly followed us. They are both looking at the sword.

“It is fine. I can handle it.” I just gave her a nod. She smirked. I figured she is teasing me. Pasimple siyang umiwas ng tingin na may makahulugan pa rin na ngisi. “What?” I raised my brow.

“Nothing, my lady.” She cleared her throat. Kumurap siya at tumingin ulit sa hawak kong espada. “Still, that sword is so expensive.” She gave me a teasing look. I blinked twice. Humigpit ang aking pagkakahawak sa espada.

“Is that so? Did I overdo it?” Napakagat ako sa aking labi. She sighed. Umiling siya.

“My lady, a normal sword costs fifty small gold coins.” I tilted my head.

Fifty? So it is really cheap. Still, for me to spend three-hundred gold bars for him, is it not right? I mean, it is befitting for him since he is a royalty.

I snorted.

Wait, why should I even give him a gift? A cheap one is enough for him. I am not trying to appeal. In the first place, I just wanted to tease him and observe his adorable reactions. It was just for fun. Spending my gold bars for fun, huh?

“So I have really overdid it.” Should I change my present?

I bit the inside of my cheeks.

No, it should be fine as it is. It would be a waste not to gift it to him.

I was about to go inside the carriage when a sweets shop caught my attention. It had many customers that there is even a long line. The scene of Rionsky adorably eating sweets crossed my mind.

He must have like sweets if he is savorily eating it.

Tumigil ako.

“Wait.” The two stopped.

“What is the matter, my lady?” Si Hilda.

“Pumunta tayo roon.” I pointed at the shop. She tilted her head.

“You are craving for sweets, my lady?”

“Yes.” I lied with a blank face. I easily obtained a special whole cake. Ipinahawak ko ito kay Hilda.

I wonder if he will visit later. Or should I just go sneak in his palace? Baka ay napagod siya sa kanyang paglalakbay.

“We meet again, m’lady.” Biglaang sulpot ng isang pamilyar na mukha. His amber eyes stared at me. I went on guard. I did not notice him since I was preoccupied.

Bakit hindi ako sinabihan ni Hilda?

Nang tingnan ko si Hilda at Gideon ay akma silang hahawak ng kani-kanilang mga armas. I just sighed and and gave them a nod.

“At ease, Hilda, Davidron.” I ordered. “Gideon.” I turned to him. He gave out a flirty smile.

If we are not in the eye of the public, I would have my servants punished him. He better be thankful for it.

Tahimik akong suminghal. My lips went grim. Dumako ang kanyang mga mata sa hawak ko.

“A weapon? Sword?” He smirked. I mentally clicked my tongue.

He easily identified it. Just how good is his observation?

“It is none of your business.” Malamig kong sagot.

“Yer’ cold.” Natatawa niyang sagot. Umirap lamang ako.

Good grief, he is starting to annoy me. When will this flirt leave?

“Bakit ka naririto?”

“I can go anywhere, m’lady.” He shrugged his shoulders. I hid my grimace.

How cocky.

“Were you following me?” I gave him an eyeful.

“Nah.” His eyes squinted when he smiled. “’T’was just a coincidence.” I doubtfully gave him a look.

Why would I believe this flirt? Hindi siya kapani-paniwala. Flirts are liars, not all of them though.

“Really?” I sarcastically said.

“Yeah.” He nodded and crossed his arms. Pinagtitinginan siya ng mga tao. It must be because he is oozing of sex appeal.

I hate to admit it but this man is really hot.

“Then leave me alone. I have something to do.” I was about to walk but he blocked my way.

“Is it important?”

“Stop pestering me and just leave me alone.” Irap ko ulit. Marahan akong suminghal.

My day is not started yet but I am already starting to get tired.

“M’lady’s really cold. C’mon. Let’s hang out.” He grinned and pestered me like a kid who wants attention. Sumingkit lamang ang aking mga mata.

Seriously, why is he bothering early in the morning? Does he intend to keep an eye on me?

Napangisi ako.

Well, it makes sense. Ngayon ang balik ng nakoronahang prinsipe. He must be trying to warn me not to get close to him. It must be for the good of the prince but this man is such a hypocrite. He should just go head in straight to me if he wants a fight.

“No, why would I?” Tumaas ang aking kilay.

“Then I’m just gonna follow ya’.”

“Hilda will take care of you.”

“Hilda?” Kumunot ang kanyang noo. Umirap lamang ako.

As if he does not know that. This man is acting innocent, huh?

“My servant beside you.” I glanced at Hilda. He did the same.

“Looks tough.” Ngumisi siya.

“Of course, I picked her.” Singhal ko. I flipped my hair. He chuckled and glanced at Hilda.

“D’worry! I won’t do anythin’!” He said as a reassurance. She glared as a response. She snorted and rolled her eyes.

She is really talented in annoying people. I almost clapped.

Kinunotan siya ng noo ni Gideon. “Snob.” He mumbled. I saw how Davidron glared at him. Napangisi lamang ako.

I like what I am seeing.

Gideon turned to me and smiled.

“Why would you even follow me? Are you bored?” I gave him an uninterested gaze. “The crown prince will be coming back today. Should you not go to him?” My brow rose.

“It’ll be fine. He won’t get mad.” He nodded. “By the way, who will ya’ present that?” He pointed at what I am holding. His gaze sharpened.

“Hindi mo na kailangang alamin.” I rolled my eyes.

“The second prince?” I squinted my eyes of what he said.

Of all people, why would I please that trash? “So I’m right?” Ngumisi siya.

“Mmm...” I averted my eyes.

“Will he like it?” He licked his lips and tilted his lips.

”Shut up. Just go greet the crown prince. You are bothering me.” I retorted in monotone. He shortly scoffed. He smirked an evil one. I felt my skin hair stood up. It felt like a bad feeling. I pursed my lips. Wala sa sarili ako na napahawak sa hawakan ng espada.

“By the way, I heard somethin’.” He annoyingly said. “Strovila fire.” I gave him a sharp look as soon as he mumbled that. I felt the two behind me their tensed feeling.

“What about it?” Tanong ko.

Why is he bringing up that past?

“The late duchess died from it, right?” Sumingkit ang aking mga mata.

”What is your point?” Diin ko. Ngumiti lamang siya.

“Did ya’ know? It was the crown prince who ordered to set fire on that theatre.” I stopped of what I heard. I can hear my heart loudly beating. Kumurap ako at napangisi.

What? What did he say? What did I just hear? How ridiculous.

I gulped. Parang may tinik sa aking lalamunan. I felt like burning up.

“Is that true?” Bumuntong-hininga ako. I heaved a deep breath. Binigyan ko lamang siya ng pagod na tingin. His eyes squinted. He grinned a devilish one.

This man... I will really kill him if I find out that he is lying. How dare he bring it up so light?

“How ‘bout askin’ His Highness ‘bout it?” He shrugged. My eyes squinted. I was about to say something when he walked away, avoiding my doubts. Napasinghal lamang ako at napakagat ang diin sa labi. I tasted my own bittersweet blood.

He is really testing my patience. Well, I can find out if what he said is true in a different way. The problem is the reason why he brought that up and how good he is in uncovering backgrounds.

Napatingin ako sa asul na kalangitan.

I had too much to take in today. I am mentally tired.

“My lady.” Hilda caught my attention. I turned to her. Her worried face made me smirked.

“I am okay, Hilda.” Sagot ko. I gave her a reassuring smile. Davidron also asked if I was also okay. Tinanguan ko siya.

I am not the vulnerable Arisia that I used to be. Strange but after hearing what he said, I did not really feel much fury or sadness. It is thanks to my lack of emotion.

Bumuntong-hininga ako.

Parang sasakit ang ulo ko. I just want to rest again.

“If the crown prince really---” I glared at her. She stopped and her eyes widened a bit. Suminghal ako.

“I will make him speak with his own mouth.” Binasa ko ang aking mga labi. My hand went to my face. I disheveled my hair.

I should toughen myself if I really find out that it was the cause of the crown prince. Will I be able to accept it even if he was the reason why my mother died in that devouring fire?

The night quickly arrived. Tumingin ako sa labas ng bintana at nakita ang prinsipe na nasa ilalim ng malaking puno. It was just his dark figure but I knew it was him in an instant. I know his figure and body really well. A smirk escaped from my lips.

He is finally here. I was finally getting tired of waiting.

Sumingkit ang aking mga mata. He noticed of my presence. Umakyat siya sa puno. I gave way for him to jump at the window. Nang makapunta siya sa aking kwarto ay lumapit ako sa kanya.

He have gotten a bit bold, huh? He even goes to me now. How cute.

A chuckle from me. He reddened. Tinakpan niya ang kanyang mukha.

“Arisia...” Mahina niyang sambit. It was a bit of seductive.

He is unfair. How can I get mad at him once I confirmed what Gideon said? I do not think I can even hate him. I bet he does not even know what I will bring up.

I mentally sighed and turned away. Umupo ako sa aking kama. I crossed my legs and lifted my head to par with his red eyes.

“You are here.” Ngisi ko. “Why not take a seat?” I tilted my head.
