Meredith Mercer was good at exactly one thing.

Making beautiful children.

Starting at the age of twelve, up until she was about thirty-seven, Meredith had four wonderful little boys.

None of them know their fathers.

The only ones who even have the same father are the twins and there's a possibility that even their fathers are different!

There's Levi, Derek, Dylan, and Russ, all raised by their mom's best friend, learning from her family how to love instead of despising everyone like they did their mother.

Everyone had to find love eventually. Right?

Although indifferent about the thought of romance, throughout the course of this series, the boys each find the love of their life in their own ways.

The youngest is Dylan, following his twin by about eight minutes, this is his story...

Junior Prom(2007)

A/N: Thissa long ass prologue.

And now 2007 is 13 years ago.

Ew.

. . .

Going to prom with Dylan is nothing short of a dream come true.

Although I doubt he'd say the same.

My sister and I were my parents' only kids. And while every parent loves their children equally—or so they claim—the rest of the world is quick to point out which of you is better.

My little sister Luisa has green eyes, and though they're muddy in color, they're much more intriguing than my plain brown ones. She's the life of the party in every instance and I... I spend my time silently sketching in the margins of my schoolwork. Her skin's just slightly paler, her eyebrows less on the verge of growing together, and not to mention she's skinnier than me. We couldn't be more different.

And if you include my aggressively squeaky voice, I was definitely not anyone's preference out of the two of us.

Even now, although I'm a junior, and Luisa's only a Freshman, she has an actual date to the prom. A guy who likes her to some extent at least.

I on the other hand was going to prom with Dylan.

He's not related to us by blood, but our moms are best friends, and since his decided to disappear, my mother and father have been raising him and his brothers.

Since he and I are in the same grade, and he would be going to prom anyway, my parents had given him the not so optional offer of taking me to prom, so that I wouldn't have to go alone.

I should feel furious, or at the very least embarrassed, but, when you spend so much time in close proximity with someone like Dylan Mercer, agreeing to let him escort you to prom is far from a hardship.

Dylan is sweet and smart and has always defended me... He doesn't look too bad either.

Speaking of looks, I frown down at my dress. It's not horrendous, but it's homemade.

With taking care of not only my sister and I, but Dylan and his three brothers as well, my parents as Hispanic people in America didn't have much of a disposable income.
