It's Not Heaven, But It's Year Seven!

I was walking home with Ashton. Audrey was probably somewhere vandalising something, and Skye usually dawdles home. But I don't know where Lexi was.

I got home and threw my bag in the hallway. Mum was at the table drinking tea.

'So, how was your day, what did you do, did you make any friends? Sit down, honey,' said mum. She had prepared an afternoon tea platter with cakes, scones, biscuits and heaps more sugary, fatty foods. Mandy, my mum, is pretty organized. When I was in primary school (when I was in primary school!) Skye and I used to come home and there would be this buffet of food! Looks like it doesn't get old.

'It was my first day too, mummy!' said Ashton. He was being childish, like always. It was his first day of year TWELVE! Who cares?!

Mum stood up and gave Ashton a kiss. 'Right, off to do my homework now.'

Ever since year seven, Ashton has been locked up in his room doing homework every night after school for at least 2 hours. Even when it was minor homework, still, 2 hours.

'Now,' said mum. 'Speak.'

'I flashed my bum, a teacher threw water all over my groin, and I got a strike in someone else's lane in bowling! I'm done now,' I said, getting up to leave.

'Uh uh, no you're not. Tell me properly,' said mum.

So I told her about my day. She laughed at bits, and went "aww" at others. By the end of it, Lexi still wasn't home. I was watching T.V in the front room. I looked out the window and saw Lexi. But she wasn't by herself. She was with - HAYDEN!! No! No she can't be! Oh no. They hugged. They KISSED! GAHH! How could this be happening to me?! And especially on the first day! I sat down and cried.

The door shut, and Lexi was by my side. 'Watcha doin' on the ground crying?'

I quickly got up and wiped my eyes. 'Oh you know, just something in my eye.'

She raised one eyebrow. 'Okay then.'

'I saw you kissing Hayden!' I said.

Lexi's cheeks went red. 'Oh, you saw that. I told him we should've done it around the corner.'

'On the first day?' I said taking no note of what she said. 'Isn't it a bit early?'

'Nope,' she said. 'He thought I was hot, I thought he was hot - kaboom! Instant boyfriend-girlfriend!'

'So if I thought someone was hot I would have an instant boyfriend?' I said.

'No, not exactly. They have to think you're hot!' she said. 'Anyways I'm going on the computer. Catcha!'

I growled. I scowled. I went into my bedroom and kicked the end of my bed until my toes hurt. Lexi is so sleeping in Skye's room tonight.

My bedroom is pretty average. And small. The walls are pink. It used to be Audrey's room when she was little. Now her room is black, not surprisingly. I've got an orange and yellow doona, clothes everywhere and a desk with my own laptop. Oh, and a mobile phone! It's a flip phone. I got it for Christmas last year. Lexi says she doesn't want one, but she's SOOO jealous...

Dad came home at around six with food. Food equals dinner! Friday night dinner equals TAKEAWAY! Poor dad, having to sit in a car full of greasy, stinky fast food. Well, step-dad, but I call him dad. Mum, dad and Skye eat pizza from Eagle Boys. Ashton gets Thai. Audrey gets KFC and I get McDonalds.

I tucked into my double cheeseburger, large chips and raspberry frozen Coke. I know, I should be cutting down on my fats and oils, but it's YUM!

Mum and dad usually go outside onto the patio to eat in summer. Ashton goes back into his room and studies, or whatever. Audrey and Lexi watch Neighbours and Home and Away, and Skye and I watch a DVD in the front room.
