I woke up at 7:20 to have a shower. I didn't get one until 7:50. Ashton left at 5:00 this morning to go on this leadership camp or something. Dad had been gone since four and mum left at seven. Skye was in the shower when I got up. She takes forever. I don't know what she does in there. Stands around and looks...Then Audrey had one at 7:35, and Lexi had one at 7:45.
I was ready by 8:25. Lexi and Audrey had already left, and abandoned me. Skye, being the bubbly and calm one, was waiting for me.
'C'mon Skye, let's go,' I said. I locked up, and we were ten steps into our trip when she started blabbing.
'Then Mrs. Taylor said Sheri should be quiet...all laughed...he jumped on the table...principal's office...Katelyn Davies kissed Cedric Wieners...jealous...,' she blabbered. Don't ask me what she's talking about.
Finally, she turned down Mason Avenue and dawdled to school. I, however, picked up the pace. I could see Lexi and Audrey down the other end of the street.
The bell for homeroom went just as I opened my locker. I grabbed my maths and health books from the shelf of my locker, and scrambled inside. I plonked my books down next to Britt and Lori. Britt wasn't talking to me because of the party incident. But Lori was as bubbly as ever.
'You should play marker's up with me at recess,' said Lori. 'Me and my best friend Caroline Duke and a few other boys from 7F. It's really fun!'
I smiled. It did sound like fun. But I turned my head to Natasha and Sophie. Their hair was done tightly up in a bun. Before Miss Melrose got here, I snuck over to them to talk. 'Hi guys.'
'Belle,' said Sophie. Yeah, hi and everything. 'Tash and I are going to a gymnastics competition at Lane Cove today.'
'Oh,' I said. 'When are you going?'
'At the end of homeroom,' said Tash. 'Its school based.'
'When will you get back?' I questioned.
'At the end of lunch,' said Sophie. 'Possibly earlier.'
Before I could say anything else, Miss Melrose walked in. 'In your seat please, Belle.'
Miss Melrose read out the announcements, which included Equestrian competitions, (which Sophie entered) St. Vincent de Paul's Charity work and a notice from the principal saying that smoking is prohibited. After the bell, Tash and Sophie went to their gymnastics competition.
Mr. Edwin walked into 7D. He was quite tall and fat. He had ginger hair, and red-rimmed glasses. (Matched his hair!)
'Good morning 7D, I'm Mr. Edwin and I'll be taking you for maths this year,' he said. 'Now, angles are our first topic...'
Angles. Brilliant. I suck at angles. I felt like going to sleep. Once I had a dream -
'You there!' he bellowed. 'Be quiet in my class.'
He turned back to write on the whiteboard, but turned back. 'You must be a Castellan.'
'Yeah,' I said. 'Belle.'
He murmured. 'No wonder. You don't listen. You get that from Audrey. You must have some good in you, though. You'd get that from Ashton.'
I smiled unconvincingly.
'Here's a question for you, Belle,' said Mr. Edwin. 'What degrees is this angle?'
He drew an angle on the board. One arm was horizontal, and the other was sticking out to the right.
I had no freaking idea. '80°?'
He looked at me like I was an alien. 'Try 23°. I can see you're going to be a great mathematician.'
