"Got a spare ciggy?"

Kellin's P.O.V
My room was exactly how I'd expected it to be, plain and crampt with a singular bed set along the side of one of its boringly white walls. It was bland, but it would do. Besides, I wasn't stupid enough to not pack any posters.
I set down my packs and lay on the murderously lumpy matress of my bed. I wasn't going to have a back by summer. As I stare up at the ceiling, my heart drops. I have nobody. There is no one to protect me in this new place, no one to run to when things get bad. Auntie June hates me, and I haven't seen my dad in over fifteen years. What can I do if something happens like last time? I always had mom to put me back in shape. Not anymore.
I take a long, deep breath before sitting up and dragging myself off the bed. I open the zipper to my bag and pull out my new pack of Malboro cigarettes before locking my dorm and descending through the many flights of stairs.

I take a drag of my cigarette, inhaling the swirling smoke. It felt so good to be outside with my stress reliever, alone and not afraid. Well, that was until I saw someone walking up to me, hands in their pockers and a bag slung loosely on their back.
"Hey, you have a spare ciggy?" the boy asks, looking up at me through his long brown hair.
"Uh.. actually-" I start, but he cut in.
"Come on dude, I saw you pulling them out a second ago."
I sigh, before nodding and handing him a cigarette. He smiles at me, sparks it up and takes a long drag. "The name's Mike," he says, in a bored tone.
I carry on smoking, bofore I catch him staring at me, "oh, yeah, uh.. my names Kellin... I'm new.."
"Yeah, I noticed. Thought I'd never seen you round here before."
I smile softly at him before throwing my fag butt onto the ground and stamping on it. "So, you met anyone here yet?"
I shake my head, he was the first person I'd seen all day other than Sykes and the receptionist lady. "Actually, there was this one guy.. I uh.. spilt his drink down him.."
"Oh, that was Vic, my brother." he chuckled, "I remember him storming into lesson, yelling about some new kid spilling his monster on his..-"
"Yeah... I'm that new kid."
You've been here less than one day, and you've already upset the self proclaimed 'king of the school'" Mike laughs, and smiles at me, "come on, I'll show you around."
He throws his fag butt onto the ground and heads towards the door to the building. It didn't seem so haunting, now that I had someone with me.

Sorry it's like mega short, I just didn't really have any ideas for this chapter, and some that I could only use in the next one, so yeah. Also, if this seems rushed, apologies because it's 3am and I'm quite sleepy, so it may not be to the best standards;o still hope you enjoyed it though!
