"How dare that little brat suggest that I'm afraid. How dare she act like she knows everything. Let's see how she likes it when I cut her eyes out." Narcissi ranted pacing the length of the control room. Her body ached, bruises coated her face and stomach, Jasper had had to use the healing kit on her head and arm from the pests.
Sighing Jasper shook his head, "I think she's right; we did bite off more than we could handle, Elena busting loose like that just proves it. I've looked through the footage, she literally jerked her hands out of the restraints ignoring the pain it was causing her. If she busts free again, the collar may not stop her."
Rubbing her eyes Narcissi nodded, "I know, but we can't turn back now. We stay on course, I just hope we can figure out how to kill them, this way if we die others will be able to carry on our work."
"Do you think maybe we should have just let it go?" Jasper whispered staring down at his hands.
Looking over at her brother Narcissi shook her head, "No Jas, I don't. They've spent hundreds of years slaughtering our kind because we're different. They treat us like gum on the bottom of their shoes, ignoring what talents and gifts we might possess.
"It's not right. We are not trash. We are living, breathing, bleeding humans, and we deserve to live without the fear of being hunted for sport, or being sent to give our lives in some arena. No, someone has to do something. Think of Jayden, her life was cut short. Abducted and sent to the reproduction warehouse, how could we ever just let that go."
"I know Narc, I just don't know if this is worth dying over. She almost killed you today, I don't know what I'll do if they do kill you, we're just going to have to be more careful."
Rolling her eyes Narcissi shook her head, "One, don't call me that. Two, we will be, we've learned a lot already, just keep your hand on the controller and if they get out of hand, zap them," Yawning Narcissi stretched, "You okay to keep watching the monitors, while I get some rest before round two?"
Jasper nodded, "Yeah, I got this. Go get some sleep."
Smiling Narcissi ruffled Jasper's hair, "I'll relieve you in a couple of hours, if anything happens, come get me right away."Jasper nodded and watched her leave, before turning back to the monitors, his mind on a summer day long ago. A pretty girl with long golden hair running through a field of wildflowers, her laughter echoing. Stolen hours of bliss beneath an old oak tree. Dreams that would never come true.
The next day Narcissi dressed in all black, and when Jasper gave the signal, she entered the room where the elite brats were being held. Lights came to life all around them, and the first thing she noticed was that Elena, Wendy, and Misty weren't bleeding.
Looking at the monitor Narcissi grinned, "Welcome back to, 'How to Kill an ELITE,' last time we ended with a story after two extremely exciting rounds. Though it seems that in the hours we were off camera, our little freaks have healed."
Water rolled her eyes, "You should have seen that one coming, dreg."
Gritting her teeth Narcissi hissed, "Well, I'll have to fix that before we continue to our scheduled program." When she finished speaking Narcissi left the room, returning with four daggers. Walking over to Wendy, she stabbed her again in the same spots as before, this time leaving the daggers buried deep within her.
Doing the same to Elena, Narcissi then turned back to the monitor, "Now, on to today's fun." An hour later the show was almost over with for the day. The girls had put up a fight once more, but thanks to Jasper's quick reflexes, she'd managed to avoid injury.
