At the time, I imagined high school graduation would be one of the best days of my life. Looking back now, I recognized the day for what it was - an ill omen signifying the closing of one, blissfully ignorant book and the opening of a dark, most unfortunate one. My life as I knew it ended that day. If only I had realized then that what I had was soon to be lost— innocence, mortality, and a naivety that I would never again have but would hopelessly long for.
