It was time, and Ashton was ready. She new that it was now or never. The letter was laying on her desk next to the rope. It was already tied, she just had slip it on and everything was over. Her drunk father and abusive mother would be gone. All the kids at school that told her she should die would finally be happy. Everyone would be better off without her, whether they believed it or not. No more of her mother beating her with the pots and spoons. No more of finding her father blackout drunk in the bathroom. She knew that she was doing the right thing. For one fleeting moment, she wondered if anybody would actually care if she was gone, but she quickly corrected herself. Nobody cared about her, and nobody ever would. They probably wouldn't even have a proper funeral. Ashton quickly skimmed her note to make sure that she covered everything, even though she knew it would just get trashed. She fastened the noose to the ceiling and adjusted its length. After she knew that it was perfect, she climbed onto the chair and slid it over her head. Her hands shook violently but she willed them to stop. She took one deep breath and surveyed her surroundings. She sighed, dropped her shoulders, and took a step into the air.
