I wake up to Mandy and I's alarm going off. It is about 7:30 am and I can already hear the noises of the city coming through our open window. We decided to sleep with it open, since the weather was so nice outside. I look over to see Mandy pulling the covers over her face and groaning, which I'm sure is due to all of the alcohol she consumed last night. I quietly get my stuff and bring it into the bathroom to get dressed. I decided on a comfy casual outfit, a flowy skirt with a white blouse and sneakers. I'm not really sure what to expect today, but I can't wait to find out.

I told Mandy that I was heading down to the cafe downstairs to get a coffee and for her to meet me there. The little cafe was located on the side of the hotel and wasn't too busy. I ordered a latte and Mandy an espresso and sat at little table outside. I can't wait to come here every morning. I thought about calling my mom but then I remembered it was still night time in the U.S., so I decided I would call them in the afternoon. Mandy came down around 8:30, and we decided it was time to head to class.

The classroom was located a couple blocks down the road at a local school. It was a perfect distance away that allowed us to have a nice walk each morning. We reached the classroom and sat in the middle desks. Once it reached 9, the professor from last night walked in. "Hello everyone. I am Andre and I will be your professor for the summer. I hope you are all as excited as I am and I hope y'all are ready to learn," he says as he puts his bag down on the table up front. "Each week we will learn more and more about the Italian language, and hopefully by the end, you all are a little more fluent." We spend the rest of the class introducing ourselves and telling a little bit about our lives. Eventually Andre dismisses us for the day and we are then free to do whatever we want.

Mandy and I decide we are hungry and find a cafe for lunch. We sit outside the restaurant and watch people walk by. "I had so much fun last night. It really helped me forget about what happened back home, and I really needed that," she says to me. I am hesitant to reply because I'm not sure if she is ready to tell me about her ex back home. "If you don't mind me asking, what happened between you and your ex?" She gives me a small smile, "Well, his name is Adam. He was so great at first. We met through a mutual friend at a party. He treated me like a princess, but that didn't last very long. One day he was acting weird and I kept asking what was wrong. I think he had been drinking and had enough and started screaming at me and calling terrible things. That went on for about a year. A month before it was time to come here I finally had the guts to break up with him. He didn't like that wanted too and kept apologizing and saying how he would change. I knew he wouldn't though, and since then I have blocked him on everything and haven't heard from him. I'm finally happy," she says all of this and I feel myself tearing up. I reach across the table and give her hand a squeeze. "You are so brave. You deserve so much  more," is all I can say.

We stay silent for a while, both taking in what just happened. I look over at her and say, "I met someone last night." Mandy's eyes get big and she squeals. "Where? When? How? Tell me everything." I pause for a bit to get my thoughts together. "Well, it was at the club. I was coming downstairs to find you and that's when I bumped into him. I made him spill his drink all over his shoes and pants. But then when he looked at me, my heart skipped a beat," I say with a slight blush. Mandy stares at me in awe. "Jane that is like what you see in a movie! But wait, what about Liam?" I look down at the table not sure what to say. "I don't know. I have been having these feelings lately towards him and I think I have decided it is time to take a break. This decision has nothing to do with Luca. I have wanted this for a while." Mandy jumps out of her seat excitedly. "Who is Luca?" I smile not realizing I even used his name. "Oh Luca is just the guy from the club," I say slowly. "Jane this is huge. What did he look like? Or sound like?" I let out a small giggle, "He has to be one the most handsome guys I've ever seen. He has intense brown eyes, wavy brown hair, and then the way he kissed my hand.." Mandy squeals again. "He kissed your hand?? Jane, it sounds like a fairy tale. I want a Luca," she says excitedly. "It's just weird because I have never felt that way before. I think he felt the same too," I say to her. "Do you think you will see him again?" "I don't know... maybe one day."

After lunch Mandy and I went back to the hotel for a well deserved nap. I eventually called my mom, Liam, and Emily. I updated them on past couple of days, but I don't mention Luca.  I don't think Emily would understand. I haven't really told her how I have felt about Liam and I didn't know how to tell her about Luca. But I realize that there really isn't anything to tell. He was just a guy I talked to once and the odds of us meeting again are so slim. I pushed the thought of Luca out my head and tried to just focus on me.
