Toronto International Film Festival Lineup Includes Luke Dornan's Renovation

July 22, 2013 07:46AM PT by Christine Armer

The Toronto International Film Festival has announced more than 100 titles—a mix of awards contenders, star-powered indies, and international arthouse fare—screening in its Gala and Special Presentations program this September, including Jennifer Adams' Wild Fire, Ben Stewart's Four Feathers, Benito Iglesias' Amazon and Jason Taylor's Time Travellers Never Die.

In what has become a launching pad for awards contenders and starry releases, TIFF will also welcome one movie that although small in budget promises to be large in impact, if for no other reason than it marks the acting debut of Luke Dornan from Blue Fusion. In Renovation, Dornan portrays a contractor hired to do a complete remodel of a young married couple's home. The wife (Keisha Sutherland) has been tasked with overseeing the renovation while her husband (Tobey Farrell) spends weeks away from home on the Louisiana oil rigs. Dornan's character finds himself, at first reluctantly, becoming a surrogate husband and father to the couple's young family.

Reached in Memphis, where he is currently recording an audition round of the upcoming season of NoteWorthy, Dornan told us he was excited to be included at TIFF and hoped that the trust placed in him by Doug Flaherty, the film's writer/director would prove to be warranted.

While no stars are yet confirmed for the red carpets, this year's TIFF has the promise to be one of the most star-studded events the film festival circuit has seen in recent years.
