I stood by the bulletin of Denver University in London. Rowdy teenagers brushed by me, nearly knocking me
off my feet. I scanned the board, looking for the notice about ‘English Scholarships’ – I couldn’t find anything
at the moment, maybe that was just another reason why I needed to invest in some glasses, like my Mum had
told me to. I squint, and finally find someone to do with the Scholarships.
I found my name. Right at the bottom. I grin, widely, and cross my arms across my chest, proud of my
achievement. This would be my first English scholarship. I’d had several Art scholarships, and I was close to
getting one in Drama, however getting one in English was somewhat of a great achievement.
“Sacha Hill!”
I quickly turn, and I’m greeted by one of my close friends. Harry Styles. He was a total muso, not really
caring about any of his other subjects other than Music. Other teachers were always commenting on how
he should join one of Denver’s bands, or sign up for singing lessons. What was the point?
Harry was the lead singer of an indie/alternative rock group – 17Black, which was supposedly a lucky number
in Poker, however Harry also had the band name tattooed beside his collarbone.
“How is my favourite, today?” I ask, on my tip-toes, giving Harry somewhat of a comforting hug.
He hugs me back, holding me in his arms for somewhat longer than he should. “I’m alright, I’ve been outside
campus” He murmurs, scratching his neck. I smile, biting my lip. Harry never went to any classes really, I’m
surprised that he was even still here at the school. “You have an English test coming up soon” I mumble, staring
at Harry. His eyes widened and he looked around before meeting my eyes once more. “What..how did you know?”
I shrug and let out a small, barely audible laugh. “You forgot didn’t you?” I ask. Harry shrugs, and looks away,
embarrassed. “No, I..um...I” Red flushed to his cheeks and I smile. He give his hair a quick shake before he smiled.
“So...do you have to get home straight away?” Harry asks. We both walk down the somewhat empty hallway, everyone
was going home. I think to myself, silently before shaking my head. “Nope, why do you ask?” I look towards Harry and
there’s a slight glimmer in his eyes. “I’d like to get Starbucks with you”
I bite my lip and somewhat blush. Harry looks towards me and grins, his curls falling into his pretty green eyes.
“I’d like that. I’d like that, very much. Then maybe you want to come home with me, and we can study?” “Yeah”
“I miss seeing you” Harry mumbles, staring at the table, at his Starbucks cup. I sigh and reach out, grabbing his hand.
“I’d see you a lot more if you came to classes. You’re practically in all of them” I mumble. Harry looks away, and
shrugs. “I know” – He looked somewhat hurt. I bite my lip, and grip onto his hand tighter. “How’s the guitar going?”
Harry shrugs and looks around Starbucks once, before turning back to me. “S’going alright, I suppose. I’m getting calluses”
I nod, and study his hands. He was right. He was getting those hardish bits of skin on his palms, and his fingers.
