Before any of the mutants could process what had just happened, they were fighting off the humans. The gear they wore protected most of them from the abilities the mutants had. Vortex, Blizzard, Cyclone, and Night found themselves useless as they were forced to fight the humans with just their bodies. They found their abilities to be useless against the gear they wore from head to toe. Split found himself being pinned to the ground by one human who somehow knew of his abilities and covered his eyes to keep him from looking around. Another human stood above him ready to slide the knife in his hand across Split's throat.
Frenzy was being restrained by a human. He knew he could easily force him to let him go, but when he saw Split go down, he decided to use his ability to help him first. The human holding the knife to Split's throat suddenly stood up, turned the knife around, and stabbed it into his own throat. When he finally realized what he had done he pulled the knife out. Blood started to pool out of the side of his neck, trickling down his chest before he collapsed to the ground.
Only a few feet away from Split, who had successfully fought off the human pinning him, was Shadow and Morph who were using their expertise in martial arts to kill the humans who were trying to get to Reaper who they wanted to capture and test on. Reaper. He was busy trying to protect Psylocke and could care less about what happened to himself. Out of the corner of his eye he could see a human charging towards Psylocke with a specialized gun. In a matter of seconds, the human was torn in two.
Ira, or what used to be Ira, stood in beast form beside Psylocke. The lower half of the dead human flew across the field everyone was fighting in as he growled under his breath. He still couldn't control the transformation, but his fellow mutants found themselves feeling grateful that he couldn't. Warlock, on the other hand, was beginning to feel worried. He could see Polaris on the other side of the field fighting off two humans who looked like they were going to win the fight. Warlock knew he wasn't fast enough to make it to Polaris, but he didn't have to worry for long.
From the doorway of the warehouse, Stone came running, both his hands holding bombs he had created with items that were laying around. Of course, a few of his new friends were going to be upset about their missing electronics, but he didn't care. If there was an opportunity to do what he loved most, which was making bombs, he was going to do it. As he threw one towards the opening of the forest Pyro and Inferno had their backs pressed together, using their fire abilities to burn the gear off the humans who ran past them.
Dragon was standing on the other side of Reaper, a long-lost friend he never thought he'd see again. The two of them were smiling as they took out the same human together. Buck stood in the middle of the field, waiting for Fortis to grab a hold of him. They didn't have long to talk, but they had enough time to agree that Fortis would use Buck's body as a makeshift bat. A mutant with superhuman strength using a mutant made of steel was a match made in baseball.
As the mutants worked together, they found themselves joined by four more mutants who had been looking for the warehouse for weeks. Tempus, a mutant with the ability to time travel and turn invisible, quickly transformed and walked through the field, snapping the necks of unsuspecting humans. He was born as Hansol Chwe but started to go by Choi Hansol when he grew older. He was ruthless.
Pitch, one of the mutants that had appeared with him, had superhuman strength and hearing. He stood where he appeared, listening to the radio signal that all the humans were listening to. He wasn't worried about any of the humans attacking him, not when he stood at six feet tall. His birth name? Ok Taecyeon.
Bunny and her best friend, Doc, quickly moved together through the field. She used to be called Jennie Kim but started going by Bunny when Doc saw that she could manipulate animals. Her ability of Earth Manipulation was newer and less controllable, but she attempted to use it when needed. Doc, on the other hand, had the ability to shrink or grow, and had super intelligence. He was born as Lee Jihoon but started to be referred to as Doc when he quickly moved through grade after grade until the humans discovered he was a mutant.
The thirty mutants fought to the best of their abilities against the humans that had just appeared in front of the warehouse they had started to call home. Every inch of the field both species were standing in, was filled with fighting, yelling, screaming, and blood. So much blood.
If it weren't for the four mutants who had just appeared from the edge of the forest to offer their help in the battle, the mutants would have lost. Even though they now had the upper hand, and the humans were beginning to drop like flies, their triumph was short lived when all the mutants heard a scream from the edge of the forest. As the last human dropped and the scream filled the air, time stood still.
Every mutant in the field turned towards the direction the scream came from. To their horror they saw Rain looking down at her hands. Rain had felt the blade dig deep into her chest the moment it had happened. She let out a scream when the pain became more excruciating than anything she had ever felt before. Shadow quickly ran to her side, trying her best to stay calm as Rain collapsed to the ground. In front of the mutants the green grass began to turn red.
"Do something!" Ash yelled at Reaper who was standing next to Psylocke with a look of fear on his face. It looked like fear to the other mutants, but Psylocke knew why he was staring at Rain with that look. The knife in her chest was his. He had pulled it out towards the middle of the fight in hopes to get his hands dirty. He enjoyed hand to hand combat and was looking forward to sharpening his skills. It was towards his ninth kill that he lost the knife. In the time of him losing the knife and the end of the fight, a human had found it. It was because of him that Rain had been stabbed, and if she died, he didn't know if he'd be able to bring her back.
That's how his necromancy ability worked.
He could only save someone once.
