13. Without Me

Being with you makes me incredibly happy.

"What? That's my bubble tea you're drinking!"

Y/N rolled her eyes, provokingly sipping on her friend's drink as Futakuchi gasped, clearly offended.

"How dare you,"

"How dare me."

Maybe going out on a saturdate with your hungry friend is a bad idea. You wouldn't want your favorite matcha bubble tea be consumed by some girl with a big space in her stomach. But well, Y/N needs to ease up a little.

She's been working nonstop since she came back from a high fever. She always does that whenever she wants to forget something.

As Y/N handed Kenji his halfway finished drink, he immediately snatched it away, pushing his lips to the straw.

"...Oi." He called out, earning the attention of his friend as she sips on her own strawberry milktea. He sweatdrops and shook his head, "If you really mean what you said before, what are you doing then?"

"What did I told you before...?"

"Sighs, moving on."

"Ohh. Clearly, I'm moving on!"

Kenji scoffed at Y/N's cheerful voice, "No you're not. What you're doing is nothing but desperately trying to forget about the every woman's sweetheart Miya Atsumu."

Y/N remained silent. The two friends sat on one of the mall's benches, both in deep thoughts but about the same person.

Y/N admits that up until now, she still has feelings for Atsumu. Clearly, it's not just anger but also love. But it's not as strong as her love for him years back. It's enough for her to let go. Atsumu needs someone better. Maybe another player. Volleyball? Tennis? Swimmer? Maybe a figure skater?

Whoever she may be, she should have the same title as Atsumu.

"Say, Kenji. Have you ever fallen in love before?"

"Huh? Of course."

"Mm."

He never talks about it.

After finishing her drink, Y/N stands up, yawning as she stretched her limbs. She turned to Futakuchi and gave him a warm smile, "Moving on will take time. But isn't it satisfying? One day, you will feel nothing. No crazy heartbeats when you're near him. No hazy thoughts when you see his golden-brown eyes. Afteeer years, you will feel nothing but the satisfaction of no longer loving the person you've been head over heels for since high school."

Futakuchi smiled in relief. I didn't have to worry after all.

"An idiot. That's what you are."

"Oh, come on! At least support me there!"

"Hey, I heard there's a new ice cream parlor in the third floor. Wanna go?"

They didn't find the ice cream shop.

Instead, they found an interesting store with merchandises of every teams in the V. League Division 1. From Schweiden Adlers to EJP Raijin. Schweiden Adlers number 20 cap, Sendai Green Frogs 'You Can Do It' shirt, Red Falcons keychains, all the volleyball players' handprints sizes to put your own palms on and compare yours? This looks like a haven to their fans.

One caught Y/N's eyes.

The limited MSBY Black Jackals number 13 volleyball shoes and the MSBY training shirt being worn by a guy with sunset locks, being accompanied by another man in his MSBY tracksuit.

Y/N and Kenji sauntered through the Black Jackals aisle and passed by the two men and swear, Y/N couldn't help but smile at the tangerine guy's enthusiastic beams.

"I'm sure Atsumu-san will like this! This is the latest merch under his number, right, Oliver-san?"

"Ahuh. Bet that guy's whining because he can't go today."

Y/N choked.

They are Atsumu's teammates?!

"What, can't figure it out with their outfits? Your thoughts are too loud, by the way."

She glared at the man beside her before shifting her gaze back to the Black Jackal members. The orange guy now have one of the displayed Miya-dumbass-Atsumu volleyball shoes and both he and the older man made their way to the counter, passing by Y/N and Kenji.

Though, there were a few fangirls for Oliver Barnes and a few asking about the newly recruited Hinata Shouyou.

"Hinata Shouyou... sounds familiar to me."

Kenji leaned on the wall behind him, hands in his sweater, "Yeah. You've probably heard of him from your ex-boyfriend. The one from the freak-quick twins, y'know? Karasuno High School?"

Probably.

"Ah, yeah... I don't exactly remember--"

Hinata Shouyou.

Karasuno! Of course! The school that defeated the team in her second year of high school.

And Shouyou-kun. Y/N remembered Atsumu mentioned him not only once, but many times. Oh god, she finally remembers! Her heart looked like it would leap out of her chest as she remembers how sincere and confident Atsumu looks as he uttered those words to her.

"One day, I will have Shouyou-kun as my spiker. And when that day comes, we will become unstoppable."

Looks like it wasn't just a fanboy's dream now.

It actually happened. Hinata ended up being on the same team as Atsumu. In his control, in his very own place. To set for him- to have Hinata to hit his tosses. It had always been his dream.

Y/N couldn't help but tear up and be happy.

I'm glad that you've finally reached your dreams even without me.
