"Stop crying pup!" I yelled.

Lance's sobs vibrated throughout the room. It left the three men near us sitting awkwardly to themselves. My pup's sudden outburst left me wondering what was causing his pain and sorrow. Maybe it was Ryan's words that offended him personally.

"Pup, please...stop," I begged.

The kid raised his head from my chest and gave me a meek smile. My thumb went up to caress his supple cheeks and gently gripped his shoulder. I reassured him everything was going go be okay. I had decided to tell my pack mates that both of us would be joining everyone else again later tonight.

"I think it's time we both head back up stairs," I stated. "I'll see you guys later tonight when everyone else comes back, before you guys switch with the others for patrol."

The three men nodded and bid us both farewell. I held Lance under my shoulders and carefully walked him back upstairs to my room. His frail figure gave me anxiety as I thought about how easily frightened he could get. The moments I tormented and forced myself onto him gave me a heavy amount of remorse.

His times of fear and the viscous acts of possessiveness I acted upon him were now memories that were becoming faint; I was sure they would further diminish as time went on. It all started to seem very unfamiliar, yet it was still so picturesque in my mind that I was sure my imagination was conjuring up some cruel version of me that I was no longer sure I still wanted to be.

Was I changing?

As I stared down at the young kid before me, I continued to ponder the emotions he vulgarly expressed through his loud weeping and crying. I couldn't seem to decipher whether it was due to having to stay here as ransom or finding out I was his mate.

But that can't be...he said it in his own words, he accepted me as his mate.

So what was the issue?

It didn't help that I've inherited the inability to read people's minds and understand the feelings of others. I was unable to pick up obvious signs and early warnings when I truly needed to at times like this. My heart and mind were still finding the proper ways to overcome the act of bewilderment I truly embraced for none of the right reasons.

It becomes more predominant at moments when I would come in contact with anyone who was letting their emotions pour out. It also bothered me that I would accidently pick up on the wrong signals, and would always go on to incorrectly help those people along in their troubles. But it continues to bite me in the ass and haunt me in the end.

"We're here pup, let's go take a nice, hot bath, okay?" I said as I led him back into the room and locked the doors from behind.

"That sounds very nice actually," Lance whimpered. "It may help clear my mind."

"Now before we do pup, I would like to know what made you burst out in tears," I ordered. "After you tell me everything I want to know, I'll then tell you how I got injured."

Lance nodded as he looked up to give me a warm smile that could be seen from miles away. My hand went up to cup his chin as I bent down to plant a kiss onto his soft lips. He accepted it willingly and allowed me to deepen the kiss even further. I moved my hands along the side of his body and carefully went to pull his pants, along with his underwear, down to his ankles, where he shook them off to the side of his feet and out of his way.
