Sirius cautiously crept into the hallway of the Shrieking Shack after skillfully dodging the Whomping Willow. James and Peter were not so lucky but Sirius knew that they would be along shortly. He could hear quiet cries from upstairs which caused his heart to shatter. He hated when Remus cried like that because unless you listened intently, you wouldn't realise he was crying so he got away with it all the time.

He started to make his way towards the geriatric, run down stairs trying not to make a sound but failing miserably after forgetting where the creaky floorboard was placed. Everything went silent; Sirius was surprised that Remus could not hear the rambunctious, rhythmic, thumping of his heart.

Suddenly, a voice broke through the eerie silence.

"Who's there?" Remus yelled, sounding both flustered and angry.

Sirius kept quiet, not even daring to breathe. He had his back pressed up aganst the wall, enveloped into the darkness of the shadows in case Remus decided to come looking. Fortunately he did not, and Sirius began to hear the gentle cries again. Oh how he wished he could just be up there letting Remus cry into him as he soothed him. But he couldn't just yet, he couldn't just burst in there, he had to rehearse what he was going to say.

About 10 minutes had passed before Sirius finally had the courage to creep slowly up the stairs and he knew exactly what he was going to say.

Remus felt strong arms around him shocking him out of his crying state. Remus knew who those arms belonged to.

"Get away from me Black, I'm warning you!"

" I don't get why you're mad at me, you don't like me like that" Sirius said with a look of confusion earning himself a look of disbelief from Remus.

"Are you just stupid or did I give you a prolonged concussion in werewolf form?!" Remus said completely seriously.

Sirius held back a snort so as not to make Remus even more angry.

"Wait so you do like me?" Sirius said softly.

"Yes Padfoot, I love you! But obviously you don't feel the same..." Remus replied holding back tears.

"What are you saying Moony, of course I love you, do you not see the way I look at you?"

"Then why were you kissing Marlene, Sirius huh? Enlighten me!" Remus burst out, the tears now flowing freely.

"I thought you didn't feel the same, I had to have a cover up so no one else found out and I didn't want to look stupid." Sirius tried to explain.

"How do I know that I can trust you and you're not just trying to make me look like a prize idiot like usual Sirius?

"I guess I can prove it through this"

Remus didn't have time to question Sirius' motives for a soft pair of lips were placed upon his own. He was lost in the moment. Neither of them heard James and Peter walk through the doorway and gasp, not did they see Peter hand James three galleons and James smirk at him. James pulled out a wizarding camera from his trouser pocket. Peter cast Winguardium Leviosa upon a sprig of mistletoe to make it hover just above Remus and Sirius' heads. Remus and Sirius only pulled apart after sensing the flash go off from in front of them.
They sprung apart from eachother in embarrassment, not looking James or Peter in the eye.

"Well, that's going to be an interesting photo to find in years to come" James said trying to break the tension between the four of them.

"Yeah guys don't worry, I won't 'rat' you guys out" Peter said with a smirk.

Remus and Sirius burst into laughter, James looking at them all in disbelief.

"How come you guys never laugh at my animagi puns? You just roll your eyes at me!" James said presenting a mock expression of hurt.

"Maybe that's because you use them too frequently Prongs darling, when Peter uses them on occasion they're actually humorous" Remus said in an equally mocking voice to match James face.

"Watch who you're calling darling Moony, Potter here may get the wrong idea" Sirius said trying to keep his serious composure intact.

He failed however and they all collapsed into a bundle on the dusty floor of the Shrieking Shack dissolving in laughter.
