Babe's POV
Scotty lately has been in a depressed mood. I can tell he wants to make friends very badly, but it's hard when you're the new kid and there was only two weeks left of school before summer. Yesterday was the last day of school and boy was it crazy. Though it turns out the cute boy, who lives across the street, plays baseball and is very good at it. Today I have nothing on my agenda except sleep. It's 8:24 a.m so I might be able to sleep a long time since I only had a couple of hours asleep last night. Which sounds perfect to me. I got up and started to walk into the kitchen where my mom was fixing breakfast. "Ciao mama."
Mom turned around and saw me, "Hey babydoll." She kissed my forehead as I sat at the table. "Where's Bi- I mean dad and Scotty?" I asked my mother. Despite Bill not being my biological dad, he still tries to fill the role of him. I know that sounds bad, but he is a nice guy. Awkward guy but nice. All of sudden I hear a loud OWWW. Me and my mom rushed to the back door to see what had happened. Scotty came in with a glove on holding his eye and with Bill behind him rushing him in. Mom put Scotty in a chair while bill went the freezer.
I sat next to Scotty trying to check his eye out but he slapped me away, "Babe leave my eye alone."
I moved his hand, "I'm trying to check it out to see how bad it it is culo stupido." I snapped at him when he ended hitting me in the face.
Mom gaped at me, "Babe! Enough of that language. It's not very lady like to cuss." She continued to scold me. I halfway listened. Long story short Scotty has a black eye from catching the ball. After the fiscal in the kitchen I went to my room to change into my clothes for today. I changed out of my purple pajamas to my regular clothes. I putted on a grey tank top that said Mother Fucking Princess with a black diamond in the middle, black ripped skinny jeans, put my grey Chuck Taylors on, left my dirty blonde hair in curls, put on a grey cap on backwards, and tied my red flannel around my waist. Next I put on my nose piercing, sparkly black eye shadow, red lipstick, and sparkly grey nail polish on. After I nodded at my reflection, I walked out my bedroom door shutting it close and went to the front porch. I saw Scotty looking depressed at his busted glove. "Hey, Scott." I spoke softly to him making him look up at me. "Hey, B." I sat next to him and put my arm around his shoulders.
I sighed, "Come on Scotty it's not that bad." He quickly looked at me and just shook his head. Before either of us could talk we heard another male voice, "Hey." I looked up to see the boy from the other day. He had on a white T-shirt, really faded blue button up opened, blue jeans, black PF flyers, and a LA Dodgers cap on. Now that I look at him he has prettiest hazel eyes I have ever seen. "I'm gonna go play some baseball. And we need some extra people. You want to go?"
Scotty looked up but looked back down, "Umm.. oh.. no thx." The boy looked at my brother intensely not giving up just yet. "Why not? Don't you like baseball?" He's eyes flicked over to me real quick giving me a warm smile. I smile at him than I looked at my brother since I began to blush since the boy looked at me. I slap myself, in my head obviously. I don't need to be thinking about boys, most of them only want certain things from a girl. I zone back into the conversation.
"Oh yeah, but uh.." the boy interpreted my twin, "But what?" Scotty looked at him, then to me. I just shrugged at him, I didn't have an answer for him to tell the guy.
He looked at his glove than up at the boy, "My glove, it's busted." He held up his glove to show the kid than continued his statement.
"See now, I can't go. Thanks though." He finished looking sad. To cheer him up I bumped his knee. He gave me small smile. That's the thing about being twins. Whenever either one of us are down the other is down too. It's kinda like I know what he is always feeling and vice versa. The boy looked at me again than turned back to my brother, this time not as quick as the last, "it's ok." He reached into what I presumed was his back pocket pulling out a glove. "I got an extra one." He threw the glove at my brother.
Scotty looked at the glove than at the boy who nodded his head side ways, "Come on let's go." Scotty stood up to go tell our mother he was leaving. The boy looked at me, "You can come too, if you want."
I turned my attention to the boy, "I don't know if that is such a good idea." I know how most boys react to girls playing ball.
He gave a warm smile to me, "And why wouldn't it be a good idea?" I was happy that even though I was a girl he still in a way wanted me to go but that's also my excuse to not go.
"In case you haven't noticed, I'm a girl." I told him in a obvious tone.
"Indeed I can tell. But why would that matter?" This boy doesn't know how to give up does he? "Because most boys don't want girls there since most of them love to complain about stuff."
He just smiled at me, "Do you love to complain about that stuff?"
I replied truthfully to him, "Not when it comes to that, no." He offered his hand to me to help me up.
I spoke again not taking his hand yet, "You don't give up do you?" He shook his head no. I smiled and took his hand. He helped me up with ease though I wasn't surprised considering my size. I quickly took my hand back from his hand. It felt warm to me which caused me to have a tiny blush on my face.
"Ok I will go. But if there is one bad remark towards me being a girl, I'll hurt them." He just laughed which caused me to blush a little more. He has a cute laugh. Scotty walked back out which caused him to call us, "Come on you two. And I'm not taking no as an answer." I dusted off my flannel since I was sitting on it. We started walking before the guy talked again.
"I'm Benny by the way. What's you guys' names?" Scotty answered for us, "My names Scotty Smalls. She's my twin sister, Babe."
He looked at me, "That your real name or nickname?"
I flushed in embarrassment, "That's my actual name." He nodded his head with a thoughtful look than smiled even bigger at me than before, "Cool name." I told him thank you, still a tad embarrassed. Don't get me wrong I love my name but it has some disadvantages. For example people always tell me I live up to that nickname since I'm a 'babe' to them. It also causes a whole lot of people to assume I'm a girly girl even though I'm not.
