Dedicated to _Midnightsky for the contest
"Alright, it's time for bed."
"Can you tell me a bedtime story first?"
"Alright, which one do you want to hear?"
"The one about the two people who fell in love during an epidemic..."
"Wow. That's one I haven't told in a while... You probably know it better then I do." The elderly woman sighs.
"Ok. Let see... Once upon a time, there was a young teenage girl and a teenage boy. And the teenage boy and his family moved in moved into the house next to hers..."
"Yes. The young girl's name was Catherine. She had two siblings both of which were her parent's favorites. Anastasia and Diana. Her parent's were always comparing her them. They hated her and she tolerated them.
You see, Catherine was the odd ball of the family and She didn't have many friends. In fact, her worst enemy lived on the opposite side of the new family's house. She knew that her rival would waste no time in introducing herself to the new neighbors."
"She also knew, that if Alexandra met the neighbor's kids first, that she'd turn them against her, before they even had a chance to meet. You see, Alexandra and Catherine had once been the best of friends. However, as the years past they began to grow apart. Alexandra began spending time with her siblings and the popular crowd and soon became one of Catherine's biggest bullies."
"She doesn't sound very nice..."
"Anyway, Catherine was anxious to try and figure out how to meet these new classmates of hers."
Flashback Catherine POV
"Honey, there's a new family moving in next door. Let's all go welcome them to the neighborhood... That means you to Catherine. Grab your mask and let's go."
"Yes Mom." I mumbled.
"Why don't you wear that cute raggedy ann mask that your grandma sent you?"
"Mom... I can't wear that, it's embarrassing. I'm almost 16..." I replied.
"Can't I wear the Mandelorian The Child/ Grogu mask that grandma sent us?"
"Honey, that mask is suppose to be for your father."
"No it's alright. She can wear that one. I don't mind. Now come on girls. Let's go introduce ourselves."
The next thing I knew, we were next door maintaining the six feet away minimum. "Hi. I'm Andrea, but everone calls me Annie, this is my husband Earl. This is our eldest son Matthew he'll be turning twenty in May. And these are our daughters Anastasia, and Diana they are both turning nineteen in the fall. Oh yes, and our youngest, Catherine who's turning sixteen."
"Catherine! Stop hiding behind your father and say hello... Seriously, one would have thought that you'd have out grown this nonsense. I am sorry, Catherine's always been extremely shy. Catherine, get over here and say hello! Your embarrassing me!" My mother hissed at me.
"Oh, it's perfectly fine. All of our children are actually the same way. Hi, my name is Nancy, this is my husband Antonio and these are my children. Thomas who will be turning nineteen in May and soon leaving the nest. My baby is all grown up." Nancy said with tears in her eyes.
"Mom." Thomas said his cheeks turning red in embarrassment.
"Arianna our only daughter, who is turning 19, and our twins Kevin Ares Todd, and Julian Vincent or JV for short. Our baby boys will be turning sixteen this year on June 17th. I had hoped to throw a big party but with this epidemic, I am not sure how that's going to be possible. Especially, since everything is shut down..." Nancy said with a sigh.
