"Mommy" I called her name from the other room. Two hours ago I was told to sit in my room because my dad had come home drunk again. My mom thought I was too young to understand what being obtained by alcohol was, but I knew. I knew a lot more than they thought.
I squeezed my teddy bear, still hiding in the closet. I've grown to hide in the closet since I was five, it's been four years and things haven't changed. I'm in the closet every other day.
My dad is a mad man. He says he loves are family unconditionally, but still goes around with other woman. Another thing my parents don't know about me, I observe my surrounding. Even if they're not as clear to the eye.
"Mommy, I'm getting scared!" I yelled from the closet. It's been too long, by now I'm getting claustrophobic.
I heard a bunch of muffled noises, sounds of my mom screaming. After five extra minutes it went silent, the front door slamming shut shortly after.
"Taetae?! Where are you?" I heard my mom bust into the room, looking for me.
I popped out of the closet, worried but excited to see my mom.
"What happened?" I asked, my voice slightly cracking.
"Nothing, nothing." she was rubbing my cheeks, "Your dad is just going crazy again." from the looks of it, she was on the verge of crying.
"Taehyung?"
I looked up at my mom, allowing worry to take over my face.
"One day, we're gonna run away." she was making direct eye contact. "And that fucker is gonna get ultimate hell on him." she licked her chapped lips.
"Well, where'd he go?"
She contemplated in her head on what to say. She was getting ready to lie.
"And don't lie to me, mommy." I assured her.
"I- I don't know, Taetae. I'm just happy he's gone." she pulled me into a tight hug. I hugged her back, but her body flinched in pain. She pulled away from the hug and took off her cardigan. That's when I saw the mark on her upper arm.
He hurt her. My dad hurt my mom.
