The Pandemic

Chapter 1 - How It All Started

It was like any other normal day at the Bio-Weapon Industry of Russia. They were working on a new virus called "Solius-715". The virus was named after the creator of the very virus, "Solius DeMarmo". The virus was classified as "Fatal". The scientists had been testing the virus on a range of different animals . From  mammals such as cats and dogs to birds like vultures and ravens. The report was that all the animals that got infected by Solius-715 shared the same symptoms. The virus made all of them very aggressive. The virus contained huge masses of calcium and LSD which was really harmful to any soul who came in contact with it.

The head of the department that was testing the virus ordered his staff saying "Alright everyone, we need to try the virus on one more animal and then we will start testing it on humans". 

"But sir Alek, we haven't even got the permission from the government  to conduct these tests on humans yet."

"No one needs to know about it." said sir Alek while looking towards Andres.

"Sir we have no, animals left. We've used all of them" said one of the staff to sir Alek.

"We don't have any other option but to try it on the human no-"

"Sir we don't have permission, we shouldn't be doing this. I will feel a guilty conscience after doing this." interrupted Andres .

"I don't give a fuck about your conscience Andres. If you tell anyone , you'd be in the chamber then" said sir Alek while pointing towards the huge glass encased room where the tests took place.

Sir Alek was a type of person from whom you'd never expect a kind word. He had a very rough life and you could never see a smile on his face. He was a tall bloke who was always seen wearing a suit, had an army cut, a clean shave and hollow eyes that told one that he hadn't slept for days.

"Bring the human."

The glass encased room had two huge metal doors. One of them had all the infected test subjects and the other door was for bringing the new test subjects inside.

The door slid open and two people who were wearing hazmat suits came in with a human who was being dragged by the two. The person being dragged was Igor. Igor was a homeless junkie that was kidnapped by the industry to test the virus on. 

His legs were injected with local anesthesia so he wasn't able to run away. The department made sure that he was detoxified from all the drugs he had taken in before so the virus didn't interfere with the drugs he'd taken before and give a different result.

The two people wearing hazmat suits took both of his hands and locked both of them in the handcuffs hanging from the ceiling so he didn't move . One of them took out an injection which contained the dose of the virus and injected it into the shoulder of Igor. 

Igor didn't have any idea about where he was or what was happening to him. 

The person wearing the hazmat suit pressed the piston of the injection which lead to the releasing of the virus into the body of Igor.

Almost 5 seconds after injecting Solius into Igor, Igor's jaw dropped and his mouth was wide open, his pupils dilated, sweat started to drip from his face even though he was in a very chilled room, he started to hallucinate, the open mouth quickly transitioned into a very strange smiling face and he started gazing at the person who injected him with the dose of Solius.

Suddenly Igor's hand slipped right out of the cuffs and grabbed one of the people in the hazmat suit and grabbed his waist tightly with his hands, Igor's nail had a very sharp point , one you'd expect on a piece of wood that gives you a splinter, that nail on the waist of the person he was holding just pierced through his skin, it was a very small piercing tho, the one that didn't even make you feel pain. The sweat that was on his nail also went inside the body of the person he was holding. 

The other person wearing the hazmat suit came and headbutted Igor very hard with his mask and Igor lost consciousness. The person who headbutted Igor quickly grabbed his hand and put it back inside the cuff and then both of the people wearing the hazmat suits ran away from Igor to the door and then the door slid open and they got out of the chamber.

There was a doctor standing just outside the door who quickly grabbed the person who was grabbed by Igor and looked him in the eye and asked him in a very serious tone saying "Look at me in the eye Adrik and tell me honestly, did he hurt you in any way ? "

"He just took grip of my hazmat suit, nothing else." said Adrik

"Are you sure ?"

"I'm damn sure"

"Ok then, you can go now and get rid of that suit".

Adrik and his friend walked past the doctor and went straight to the locker room and changed their suits.

After changing his suit, Adrik went inside the main room and he stared at Igor who was hanging unconscious.

"Adrik, you were very brave in there" said sir Alek will looking at Adrik

Adrik nodded and kept looking at the chamber.

Out of the blue, Igor opened his eyes and this time he had a frown on his face.
He then started screaming in agony and you could see his muscles start to expand, cuts started to appear on his muscles and his veins started to pop out .

He yanked so hard on the chains that bounded him that they just popped out from the ceiling and fell down, the yank was so hard that a little part of the ceiling came down along with the chains.

Igor then started to run around the room like a crazy maniac, he started punching anything near him. 

This kept happening for a few minutes and then he stopped and fell on the ground and then his fast breaths slowly changed into short breaths. His pupils contracted to how they were before.
He had been normal and lost the influence of Solius.

The virus was made in such a way that made the victim get 5 surges of Solius everyday. Meaning that the victim would become very strong and under the influence of LSD 5 times everyday and there were random intervals between these surges.

"Bring me the reports" Sir Alek said to one of his staff

"Here sir"

The reports told that the virus would last on a person for 8 years. The person with the virus would get five surges every day in which he'd become strong and loose his mind for a brief amount of time but then would become normal again. 

"This virus seems very promising. The government will surely approve this.... Ok everyone it's 8 PM, all of you can go home now" Sir Alek said after reading the report.

"Goodbye Adrik" 

"Bye sir Alek" Adrik said while walking out of the department
