"you wanna make a tik tok?" i asked, standing up and propping my phone up.
"uh, i don't know. i'm not good at tik tok," he said.
i noticed that he was playing with his rings again, he's nervous.
why the fuck would he be nervous? i only asked him to make a tik tok.
"what's wrong?" i blurted, even though i didn't want to.
once again, i felt myself caring way more about him than i should.
"nothing, why?"
"you're playing with your rings again, why are you nervous?" i asked.
there's no holding back now.
"i...can you keep a secret?" he asked.
"of course. you can tell me anything, we are best friends now," i reminded.
he patted the spot next to him and i sat down, searching his face for any signs that he might be upset.
"so, i wasn't completely honest with you," he sighed, spinning his rings even faster.
i reached over and grabbed his hand, using my thumb to rub his knuckles.
"are you okay?" i asked, genuinely concerned at this point.
i couldn't tell how he was feeling. he was acting like he was about to tell me something life changing. i would always comfort him, but who knows what he's about to tell me? this could be huge.
"i...yeah, i'm okay. don't worry, it's nothing bad. it's great actually, it's just something that i tend to keep from people," he assured.
"oh, okay. you were scaring me for a second, i thought you were about to tell me something really bad," i smiled.
"no, no, nothing bad. i...i'm not an assistant at atlantic records. i'm actually in a band that is signed with atlantic records," he said, his eyes scanning my face for a reaction.
"so...you..." i trailed off, trying to comprehend what he was saying.
"i'm famous, yes," he said.
"no, no...i mean...you can sing?" i asked, my smile growing with anticipation.
"yeah," he said, looking confused.
"no way, that's so cool! so i got a new best friend who also happens to be talented! this is the greatest day of my life," i cheered, causing him to smile too.
i stood up and started dancing around the elevator, causing daniel to laugh.
"so you're not like...freaked out that i'm not just an ordinary guy?" he asked.
"no, of course not!"
i grabbed his hands and pulled him up, starting to dance with him.
"so, you wanna make a tik tok or not?" i asked.
"it's just...i can't. if my fans see me with someone besides my girlfriend, rumors will start and i just can't have that happening. please don't take it personal, it's just my manager is always on my ass about that stuff. i'm really sorry," he said.
"you're too kind for your own good, you know that? i understand, don't worry about it," i replied.
"you're the coolest," he smiled.
we both looked down to realize that we were still holding hands. his thumbs were still rubbing over the backs of my hands and i still had a tight grip on his.
we both pulled our hands back, a blush coating both our cheeks.
oh no, aria.
don't you dare fall for the guy who's going to be gone in two hours.
