a smile grew on my face as soon as i woke up.

this is going to be the best weekend ever. my mom is watching daniel and i's kids, so daniel and i are alone, in south carolina, for a week.

we haven't had alone time in forever.

we got married four years ago, best day of my life. then a year later, we had twin girls.

our lives have been crazy, but we've got each other, so it's all okay.

i rolled over in bed, facing daniel. he was still sleeping peacefully, his lips slightly parted as he quietly snored. he looked adorable.

we had a long flight yesterday, so i'm sure he's tired. i didn't want to wake him up, so i stayed in his arms and just cuddled with him.

as i cuddled into his side, i began reminiscing on all of our good memories together.

our first kiss was one of the most special days of my life. we ended up going to myrtle beach together that day. we made out on the beach and then slept in his car that night.

i went to LA with him for the summer and we spent every single second of the summer together.

we partied a lot and went to beaches a lot and just had a lot of fun. we got drunk together way too many times to count.

when that summer ended, it was hard. really really hard.

i went back to new york to go to college and he went on tour. we missed each other like crazy, but it only made our relationship stronger.

our first christmas together was amazing. i bought him a new cello and a few different things for his little in home studio. he bought me the most beautiful promise ring.

we missed each other while i was at college, but we made it work. you always make it work for the person you love.

when i graduated college, i moved out to LA and published my first book.

two months later, on our five year anniversary, daniel took me to myrtle beach and asked me to marry him. it was the sweetest thing, he was super nervous and he cried when i said yes.

our wedding was beautiful, we were both a mess of tears and we were attached at the hip the entire day. when we got home, we had our first time together.

about a year later, we decided to start a family. when we found out i was pregnant with twins, we were so excited. daniel did anything and everything i wanted while i was pregnant. he was the sweetest, he would buy me anything and cook me anything and cuddle me whenever i wanted.

when our twins were born, we were both emotional wrecks, it was one of the best days of our lives. daniel made sure that he was home for the first six months after they were born.

raising kids with daniel has been a dream. he the most amazing dad, i love watching him with our kids.

as much as daniel and i love our kids and love our lives in LA, it was time that we had a little vacation.

we just needed some alone time.

daniel's eyes slowly opened and he pulled me closer to him, if that was even possible.

"good morning, handsome," i whispered, rubbing my fingers through his messy silver hair.

"good morning, beautiful," he replied.

"what should we do today?" i asked.

"go to the beach. we met here, go engaged here, got married on this beach, now we need to vacation together here," he said.

"sounds like a plan to me, seavey. do you want me to make you eggs?" i asked, knowing it's one of his favorite foods that i make.

"pleaseeeeee," he smiled.

i gently kissed his lips and then slid out of bed, despite his whines for me to stay.

while he woke up, i made us both breakfast.

as i was pouring a glass of apple juice, i felt arms snake around my waist and kisses being placed on my neck. i turned around in his arms and gave him another kiss before moving to set the food on the table.

"your beautiful," he commented as he shoved eggs in his mouth.

"thanks, seavey, you're not too bad looking yourself," i replied.

he held his hand out and i placed mine in his. this was a morning routine for us. every morning while we ate breakfast, he would hold my hand and rub the back of it with his thumb. it's just one of the little things he does.

after we finished eating, we decided to get ready for the day. we changed our clothes and did our hair and then gathered all the stuff we would need for the beach.

we left our hotel room and got to the elevator.

"haven't we been here before?" he asked, snaking an arm around my waist.

"i think we have...maybe we should take the stairs," i said, eyeing the elevator.

"you're probably right," he agreed.

we walked down the stairs together and into the lobby. as we walked into the lobby, the lady at the front desk was talking frantically on the phone.

we stopped and listened to what she was saying, trying to figure out what was going on.

she hung up the phone and called someone else. then she said "hello, there's two teenagers stuck in the elevator right now."

daniel and i looked at each other and burst out laughing.

"good call on not taking the elevator," daniel said.

"hey, we learned the hard way."

"yeah, maybe, but i wouldn't trade that day for the world. that's how i met you," he said, leaning down and kissing my forehead.

"i love you forever, daniel."

"i love you too. soulmates?"

"soulmates."
