There's Nothing Holding Me Back

"Oh I've been shaking, I love it when you go crazy, You take all my inhibitions... Baby, there's nothing holding me back..." - TNHMB Shawn Mendes

Mason had been to many, many football games. The fans were crazy and loud. VERY loud.

Still, they had NOTHING on Shawn's fangirls. The crowd was jumping so much that he felt the damn stadium shake. And that was BEFORE the guy said "JUMP JUMP." Dude was out of his mind. Shawn needed to see what was happening here. Mason was waayyy out of his comfort zone at this point.

Worse, Becca was one of them. She was yelling the lyrics, jumping up and down, and shaking her bracelet-clad fist. She had given up filming it and had converted into the full fangirl. *Shudder*

Mason decided to sit down. He really needed some damn earplugs. He looked to his right. The girl was there! Her hair was curled casually around her shoulders before it had reached her back. She was wearing a necklace with some sort of small pendant and SHIT- she was looking in his direction. Mason ducked his head down.

"You take me places that tear up my reputation, manipulate her decisions, baby, there's nothing holding me back..."

As the crowd's enthusiasm began to swell, Mason considered his options. There were way too many people here for him to hope to run into the girl later and ask for her number. Perhaps he should just wait for the stadium to begin clearing out and follow her. It sounded a little creepy but how else was he supposed to ask?

Like a magnet, he glanced to his right. The girl was looking right at him. Mason blushed bright red but smiled at her. She laughed and waved at him before winking. Her eyes were really pretty. Mason was pretty sure his brain had short circuited at this point.

Becca, stopping her insanity for a second, looked towards what had captured his interest. "Ah, someone caught your eye huh Mase? You gonna keep staring at her like a loser or you gonna ask her out? I'm half tempted to ask her out for you." she smirked.

"Don't you dare do that! And yeah, I'm gonna ask her out. Just keep your mouth shut. I don't need my kid sister to make a smartass comment." Mason hissed back at her.

Becca just rolled her eyes in response and shrugged before singing along again.

"Cause if we lost our minds and took it way too far, I'd know we'd be alright, we would be alright. If you were by my side and we stumbled in the dark, I know we'd be alright, we would be alright..."

Mason ran a dozen different conversation starters in his head. Cheesy, cringey, cheesy and mega cringey. Could you tell he didn't really ask people out? Normally, talking to girls was just whatever. He could chat with them but it's not like he was actually interested in any of them. This however was a little different.

Sigh. He really needed to figure out what the hell he was gonna say. Otherwise, he was gonna flounder more than Flounder the fish.

Meanwhile, on stage, Shawn Mendes, was strumming his guitar.

"Mase, you should really see the way he shreds the guitar. It's soooo hot. He does it during the Youth performance and he's stamping his feet and yelling, and omigod the speed his hands move--mmmph" Mason's hand covered Becca's mouth before any more word vomit spewed forth.

"Yeah I get the point Becca. I really do feel sorry for the guy. He's got pretty much everyone in this stadium drooling after him."

"Can you blame us? He's one FINE piece of eye candy." Becca sighed, prompting Mason to elbow her in the gut.

At least his sister was after a guy she could never get. Didn't he hear the singer was dating Camila Cabello or something? Completely unavailable. Yeah, as long as it wasn't a guy near her, Mason was fine with it.
