To say my room was a upgrade from the previous one would be a serious understatement. It was lovely, the bed was against the wall as you walked in, with a purple floral bedstead and many throw pillows. However I think the window was my favourite part, a massive window that overlooked the city and a bench as a window ledge, I could read very successfully there, I thought to myself. My attention was snapped back to reality when Natasha started talking.
"Tony had us pick everything out, we hope you like it."
"I love it" I said, my eyes slowly taking everything in. "I've never had a room this nice before."
"Yay" said the sokovian, "We'll let you get settled, the other people on this floor are us two, Steve and Bucky. This should be fab" she continued, an excited glint in her eye.
"Yeah, I hope so" I said and waved them goodbye.
"Hello Miss Stonewall" I screamed as a robotic voice came out of nowhere.
"wHAT, who said that"
"I am Friday, the AI that runs the compound, created by Mr Stark to help everyone who lives here" The weird voice from the walls continued.
"That makes sense I suppose, even if you are coming literally out of the walls."
Friday did not respond, and I dropped my tatty backpack to the floor. I could seriously get used to this, I mean wow, just wow. I can't believe I actually came here to live with him, I have a feeling I might regret it but who knows. My mind drifted to all I have lost and my momma, I miss her, I miss her so much. I know she would've supported me doing this, when she told me who my father was, she encouraged me to talk to him. That was 2 days before she died, its like she knew. How you predict a car crash I will never know but it seemed like she did. I wandered to the wardrobe and realised my backpack full of clothes was never going to fill it.
"Ms Stonewall, your father wishes to see you in his lab" The AI filled the room.
"Okay" I replied and walked out of my door, before realising I had no idea where his lab was. "Erm, computer in the wall, clever voice lady..." I said into the corridor and felt a little insane as I did it.
"You know, clever voice lady is not her name" I was briefly startled by the voice from behind me. I span on my heal and saw Bucky Barnes behind me, a sly smirk plastered onto his rather attractive face.
"Are you planning on telling me her name or just stand their smugly revealing in my confusion?" I clapped back at him and his eyes racked over my body, and fell back on my face.
"I was going to but that was rude so I think I might not know." He stated confidently, and the look in my eye told me he was enjoying my confusion.
"Look you frozen relic" moving closer as my temper took over, "I am trying to get to the lab so maybe you could help instead of being a complete jackass, if that's within your capabilities of course." I spat, my anger coming out and just as he was about to reply, Bruce appeared on the floor.
"I am going to the lab now Miss Stonewall, you could walk with me and maybe not anger a super-soldier with a metal arm. Just a thought" Bruce said, looking at the display before him with concerned eyes.
"Yeah firecracker, why don't you go with Bruce here?" Bucky replied, an angry look in his blue eyes and turned and walked into a nearby room, presumably his.
"Sorry Bruce, I have a quick temper that I have some issues controlling"
Bruce chuckled lightly as we made our way to the elevator at the end at the corridor, "You're similar to you're father in that way then Miss Stonewall."
"Eliza, please, if we are all going to live together there is no need for formality. Can I ask a question Bruce?"
"Go ahead"
"Is Tony a good person?"
Bruce sighed slightly and took a minute to think about it before replying."I would say so, he tries and really that is all any of us can do, isn't it?"
"I suppose so". The elevator dinged and we were in the lab, where Tony was tinkering with something." Hi Tony, the ceiling voice lady said you wanted to see me"
"Okay, first of all her name is FRIDAY, try to remember that and yes I did, I wanted to see how you like your room and to give you some new toys to play with. Here is a new phone, laptop and a tracking bracelet, state of the art, designed by yours truly." He stated looking rather impressed with himself.
"Thanks Tony, the room is amazing but this is too much and not needed, I have all of those things already. Well, apart for the bracelet, which I need why?" I looked at him and saw disappointment in his eyes that I wasn't as excited by it as he was. Backtracking I say "But I am very grateful and will be sure to use them all. Thank you."
His eyes lit up with joy, and while this was weird and he seemed like a stranger to me, he was trying and that's really all I can ask.
With apologetic eyes, he responds "No problem, I want to try and make up for those years I wasn't there"
"Yeah, again sorry why do I need a tracking bracelet"
"Oh, that's just so I know you're not kidnapped of anything and so I know you're safe"
"What, no sorry Tony but you're not tracking me, talk about privacy. Not gonna happen" I respond, anger fuelling into my body.
"You're gonna put it on and you're not gonna complain about it. I am your father and I wanna know that you're safe kid." His voice raising towards the end of the sentence.
"No. No fucking way. You have no right to call yourself my father, not yet anyway. Because the last time I checked, when a child is 21, they don't need to be parented anymore, especially by someone who wasn't there. AT ALL."
With that I storm out of the lab and into the elevator, ignoring the gaze of bruce and the other scientists.
Racing off the elevator, my eyes fixed on the ground and getting back into my room undetected, I smash right into a hard chest and look up to see the eyes of a super-soldier I managed to anger earlier. With him was Rogers.
"Are you okay Eliza? You look -" Steve begins but my anger takes over and I reply
"I'm fine Rogers, surprisingly I'm not in the mood for a heart to heart with people I met today. Weird isn't it."
Bucky opens his mouth but shuts it again when I force my way between them and slam my door. Dumping my new tech on my seat, I slam myself into my bed, allowing time to cool off.
