The Offer

Walking into the building that rejected me yesterday, is this really the best I can do I thought to myself what I am thinking ofcourse it is I have nowhere else to go well atleast they called me back as I was walking I bumped into someone "sorry" we both said at the same time until I saw him 

"oh hey hero guy" I said now seeing who I bumped into "miss Elmore, glad you made it" he said and walked away without another word 'okay that's not weird at al' I thought to myself as I walked to the elevator 'oh great just take forever why don't you, maybe I should take the stayers' I chuckled at the thought as the elevator doors finally opened and got in

'great that are already people in here how, oh right garage' I kept thinking so hard I almost missed the fact I was on the floor am I supposed to go to the same office as before as I move toward the door and knocked hearing a vague come in I walked In with a smile

'all five of them are here that's weird I thought I already had the job' "miss Elmore, come sit" Mr. Richards said looking at me with a smile gesturing towards the chair to sit

I had to Google them to find out who they were, how very professional of them to not introduce themselves "you're probably wondering why all five of us are here right now" he said looking towards his colleagues

'ofcourse I'm wondering you practically told me to beat it the other day and now all five of you are here like one isn't enough, remember am be polite, wait he wasn't being rhetorical I have to answer' "yes sir" I said faking a small laugh

" I have to admit when I got the call it sent me on a loop" I said playing the role as expected 'people are arduous but I gotta play the role to survive, no one really cares for us the people who fail to blend in we are all just puppets in a game and if you don't string along you are a pariah one of the many reasons I had to leave home' 

 "well miss Elmore the job is yours we just want to ask you a few questions and it's a requirement upon hiring that we all attend" the only woman on the team said clearly uncomfortable

'I just wanna yell fuck the patriarchy but I need the job so not my main priority here, it was probably a requirement that atleast one woman should be here If I didn't already know I would put my money on her being HR' they asked me some basic questions honestly I could just feel out a form I was dismissed and told I start Monday

As I was walking home I realized I still didn't know mystery guy's name now normally I wouldn't care but he intrigues me I don't know why he seems different kinda like I don't know it's odd really I got home or in other words this shitty motel now I could rest and soon I'll have enough money to get us out this place the salary is the one great thing about that company I have an MBA in business I can't even use because I'm trying to hide out and using a fake name well I kept my first name obviously

Kim is out doing more interviews she could make it big I believe in her, she was supposed to be home all day but she texted me saying me getting the job inspired her to go crush the industry

I was half asleep when I heard the door creek open I opened my eyes my best friend coming into view "hi sorry, didn't mean to wake you" she said apologetically "but since you're up now, how did it go" she said approaching the bed

"I got the job" I said smiling she jumped like a crazy person "yess I knew you could do it Lia, tell me everything don't leave anything out" she said giggling like an idiot "well....." I explained everything to the last detail

"So.... This guy how hot is he" she said smirking "Kimberly" I said rolling my eyes "it's not even like that I'm not into him" I said protesting 'I really I'm not into him am I nah I'm too smart for that' "right" she chuckled rolling her eyes 'she isn't gonna let this go' "you really aren't gonna let this go, are you?" I said shaking my head 'in retrospect I should have known telling her about him would lead to this'

"Nope" she said popping the p "agh go to sleep" I said faking annoyance "at 4pm" she said raising her brow "mmhhm" I mumbled raising my shoulders up

Time just seemed to go by at this point soon it was already 11 Kim and I had talked for hours nonstop she told me about her day she also met some guy who wants her to do an ad for his company which she agreed to after he proved he wasn't just some perv just hanging around waiting for her to leave her audition can never be too careful and now we were just laying on our backs as I looked at the clock on the wall 11:46

"K ama turn in I'm exhausted just thinking about Monday" I said yawning "same night Lia" she said getting into the sheets Monday is gonna be interesting or a complete let down wonder what cards are install for me
