Luke's POV
A body? After I regained my composure, I stand up straight and tall and shine my flashlight over the body, I find that it is a body of a scare-crow, not Jai. Relieved I walk around it and continue walking around the woods, calling out Jai's name.
"Jai!"
"Jai!"
No answer......
Jai's POV
I hear them calling me, yet the voices seem so distant. Why would they come looking for me? No one wants me. I climb up into a tree, just as the voices seem to be coming closer. I watch from the top as 6 figures emerge from different spots around the woods, they stand under my tree.
"I couldn't find him." Beau says.
"Yeah, The nigga's long gone." Daniels voice has a hint of sadness in it. A pang of guilt hits me with an unsettling feeling in the pit of my stomach.
"Oh my god, My son is missing!" My mother shrieks. I almost call out to her, but remember why I'm up here and stay quiet.
"I know this is a bad time to say this, but I love Jai. Like really love him." Alex says, Now I feel really bad.
"You deserve to be with him Al, I'm sorry Jai, where ever you are..." Luke says.
"Lets go home guys. We'll look again tomorrow, call the sheriffs and see what they can do....." They walk back towards the entrance of the woods, I silently sit in my tree and wipe the tears off my face.
Knowing what I know now, I'll probably never be alright ever again. But were their words real? Or fake? I need to break this stupid habit of running way or hurting, or trying to kill myself just because life doesn't go the way I planned, Yet right now as I'm thinking this.....I still take the tree bark against my wrist.....
